Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe scrambled eggs I ordered for one breakfast were definitely not up to standard: they obviously came straight from the microwave and/or were not made from fresh eggs. In my bathroom the shelf underneath the mirror was missing so I had trouble finding a spot where to put my make-up etc. somewhere, and the basin still had two separate hot and cold water taps which really are a nuisance to use ... the shower cabin was rather outdated, too.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the variety of food choices included in my package were great and tasted mostly very well. The room - as the hotel - was nicely decorated in a traditional way. The location of the hotel at the seafront is really perfect for a weekend stay to get tot know Angelsey!

United KingdomEarly morning noise (6am) from service vehicles, having our dog with us, we had to eat breakfast in a room at a distance from the restaurant, this proved difficult for my wife to select items for a Continental breakfast
Large comfortable bedroom, very helpful staff.

United KingdomIt's too strong to say we didn't like certain things, but we'd like to make the observation that we've stayed in comparative hotels, price wise, and for the price the Bulkeley charge, they could perhaps just go the extra mile. The decor is a little tired in places. Little additions in the room - fresh milk not cartons, fresh fruit, homemade biscuits. For a top end hotel, it's the little things that make the difference and make somewhere exceptional.
Our 5th visit in recent years, so we clearly like the hotel. Great location and facilities. Full of character. Attentive and efficient staff. Our suite was super with fabulous views from our separate lounge. Plenty of storage and space. We will be back!

United KingdomA bit dated but it's part of its character. The car park was first come first served so a few of us had to park in the adjacent parking (but it was only £5 for 24hrs).
Comfortable and clean rooms. Lovely receptionist and attentive night porter. Great location. Tasty breakfast.

United KingdomThe restaurant seemed to struggle with getting the right orders to the tables so it was a little chaotic (especially breakfast), but when it did come it was very good.
Lovely grand hotel, well maintained, lovely terrace overlooking pier and Menai Straits. The food was really good.

United KingdomThe waiting times to have my order taken was dreadful. On my first afternoon I sat in the cafe waiting to have my order taken. There were plenty of staff, but after being ignored for over 10 minutes I left and went elsewhere. The next day at breakfast I was brought coffee and after 15 minutes I had to request someone take my order. In the afternoon in the Bar & Grill I waited over 10 minutes for my order to be taken, despite it being quiet and plenty of staff around. The staff are polite and friendly, but gormless. They seem to just wonder around aimlessly without concentrating on the customers. Also in the main restaurant there is background music playing, it’s barely audible so actually sounds like messages being received. Either increase the volume or cut it out, it’s really annoying.

United KingdomA little tired in some areas. In theory we had a balcony but it was covered in bird faeces and had no furniture. Maybe the balconies could be tidied up a bit and made functional.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel has interesting history. Great location.

United KingdomJust the TLC needed on the bedroom furniture and carpets.
Breakfast excellent. On the Sunday we had roast beef and it was delicious! Dining room is lovely. The whole hotel is comfortable and clean but it is looking a little dated in parts - eg some of the carpets look like they could do with replacing and the wardrobe/drawers etc in the bedroom were in need of a bit of TLC. However, clean and very comfortable. Staff really polite and friendly. We've stayed a couple of times now and would stop again. Great location in Beaumaris and despite staying over a bank holiday weekend we managed to get on the hotel car park every evening. Plenty of eating options if you don't want to eat in the hotel too - lovely Italian virtually next door and the Bulls Head opposite are just a couple of options. If the worn carpets and worn furniture in the bedrooms were updated, it would rate as excellent! That said, the feeling of the hotel is that of being "grand" and old-fashioned, so maybe it all fits!

United KingdomNothing of note
I liked the location and friendliness of the staff. It was a bit old worldly and slightly dated but nonetheless nice. We used the restaurant twice and had two really good meals with nice service. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again especially if we were visiting Ireland again as we used this hotel to visit the local area before catching a ferry from Holyhead. Beaumaris and local area is also worth a tour.
