The staff was very kind, as expected from a family owned ryokan. The bath area is small, but you schedule your personal bath time. Food is incredible, a must try when visiting Zao. Location is near the main attractions, like the cable car is reachable by walking. Lots of nearby onsens.

Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya is located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, 50 km from Sendai. Highly recommended. The staff are standout super efficient, always available and friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and newly refurbished (especially the rooms). The Japanese breakfast was an amazing experience. If we had to do this northwest region again we'd definitely repeat this as our base.

Featuring free property-wide WiFi, a spa centre and a seasonal outdoor pool, Matsushima Ichinobo offers accommodation in Matsushima. Everything is amazing. It is expensive, but you get what you pay. I recommend staying for at least 2 nights. I stayed for only one night, and I think I could have enjoyed more (like the gardens and the free rental bike service) if I had more time. Having said that,I thoroughly enjoyed my bedroom, the lounge, restaurant, the baths. The free all you can eat ice cream in the lounge was also a positive surprise.

Tagoto features a hot public bath, Japanese-style and Western rooms and Japanese cuisine, a 5-minute drive from Aizu Wakamatsu Station. Przede wszystkim fenomenalna kuchnia. Kolacja genialna, wiele przystawek z lokalnych sezonowych produktów. Piękny, czysty, tradycyjny pokój. Czułyśmy się wyjątkowo zaopiekowane przez obsługę. Przemiłe panie i pan z obsługi cierpliwie tłumaczyli nam menu ,używając łatwego języka japońskiego, abyśmy mogły w pelni zrozumieć. Na sniadanie obfita uczta. Niedojedzony ryż sklejono nam w onigiri na drogę. Poza dwoma posiłkami w ryokanie nie mialysmy potrzeby kupowania nic do jedzenia- tak syte były posiłki. Dla osób zagranicznych sam pobyt w takim hotelu jest już atrakcją. Polecam gorąco

Obiekt Tamonkan mieści się w zabytkowym budynku w stylu japońskim, otoczonym świętymi górami i dziewiczą przyrodą. Na powitanie Goście otrzymują bezpłatną filiżankę herbaty i przekąski. Amazing food and beautiful traditional ryokan. Dinner was one of the best meals I have eaten anywhere in my life. The owner's wife and mother prepared and beautifully presented a perfect Japanese dinner, and breakfast (Japanese) was also incredible. Our room was the oldest (100 years) but the whole place dripped with authenticity and good taste. We stayed in early January and it was very cold in the hallways but rooms had gas heaters to keep you cozy. The walk from the front door to the top of Mount Haguro was about an hour and a half with deep compacted snow covering the famous 2446 steps. A truly memorable experience.

Located within a 10-minute walking distance from the Zao Sky Cable aerial lift, Miyamaso Takamiya features 9 natural hot spring baths for guests to enjoy. Very nice, traditional experience! We were very surprised with the diversity of the breakfast. If you want to experience a proper Japanese breakfast, here is one place where you can do that very well. The onsen was very pleasant too, but you might need to get accustomed to the temperature. All in all we had a very pleasant stay here and we can definitely recommend! Thanks a lot :)

Located a 7-minute walk from Gosho Lake, Shikitei Morioka TsunagiOnsen offers free WiFi and indoor/outdoor hot spring baths. JR Morioka Train Station is a 25-minute drive from the property. Top tier hospitality and service. Every meal was meticulously considered and prepared. The menu items also change every meal. The traditional Japanese room with private open air bath was a delight. The staffs were extremely friendly and thoughtful.

Located right in front of Matsushima Bay, Komatsukan Kofu-tei offers accommodations with free wired internet access. The view the room was outstanding! The staff members went above and beyond to help us. My wife has celiac disease and needed special care to be taken with meals and they did an amazing job of providing 2 very large and intricate safe meals each day with no issue.

Katakurinohana has lake views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Senboku, 15 km from Nyuto Hot Spring. It is set 49 km from Morioka Station and features free shuttle service. The scenery advertised on Booking.com especially the private onsen, the lobby faced lake view, looked cozy in the ads, every room has lake view….but..
