Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe full English breakfast had an odd taste. The carpets in the room weren't clean. The chairs in the hallways were stained. To use the TV, you had to log in to Netflix or watch YouTube as the free view channels had a poor signal. No lamps in the room only ceiling light.
The breakfast room was pleasant. The vegetarian breakfast was nice. The bathrooms were clean. The location was excellent.

United KingdomReception and hallways let it down as needs a bit of a refurb. Also, we were moved from our room because the toilet was broken. The new room was better but the window was floor to ceiling and almost sitting on the public path outside. There were traffic lights directly outside too so we had traffic stopping and starting constantly, although for the time we were there it didn’t bother us so much.
Wasn’t expecting the Ritz for the price of the hotel but rooms were well presented, clean and comfortable.

United KingdomRoom could’ve done with a makeover but for me and my mate who just needed somewhere to sleep for the night, we couldn’t give a monkeys if the walls had some paint missing etc.
Room could do with a makeover but apart from that it did the job for the night. It’s a budget hotel and felt it was good value for money especially considering England were playing at St James’ Park that night. Like I said done the job for the night. Free parking was a welcome bonus and room was clean. Staff helpful when needed.

United KingdomBathroom wasn't clean. Walls in room were dirty. Wood on the door frame was beginning to rot. The last cooking breakfast was rude. There was a mix up in having our names on the breakfast list, which is fine as these things happen. But rather than take our order and we could sort out the payment afterwards, she sent me back to the reception to sort it first (after shouting at them on the phone in the kitchen). The breakfast was poor and the table with milk, cereals etc a mess. After we went up stairs to wait on our taxi to leave, she continued the conversation about us, in front of us, without involving us in the conversation. Very odd ending to the short stay.
It was easy to get to from the train station. Reception staff were helpful and polite.

United KingdomTwo weak points: bathroom and other guests. Bathroom door handle comes on and off. Seat on the loo falls apart. Toilet paper has no easy access if you're doing your number 2. A few rough looking people around rather annoying then harmful. Carpet could be replaced sooner or later
Close to Newcastle centre - about 20 minutes on foot. Room was comfortable enough. Fresh beddings, towel. Well equipped room. Staff was very polite, helpful. Small car park had lots of spaces. Despite the bad points i listed (see below) it was okay for a short stay and i'd probably use them again

United KingdomIt leaves plenty to be desired but for the price you really can’t complain. A single night whilst away for work was fine but I don’t think the wife would appreciate it for a getaway!
It was very cheap. The staff were pleasant. The bedding and towel were nice and clean. Unexpectedly a cooked breakfast was included in my rate. I just went for a coffee but was presented with a full English whether I wanted it or not!

United KingdomSee above.
This is supposed to be a 3 star hotel and the pictures certainly looked it. Definitely didn't match what the pictures portrayed but maybe I didn't meet the tier as I only paid £18 for a last minute room in which I arrived for 2300 and left by 1100. I think they need to review the atar rating system and have it updated to a 1 or 1.5 (maybe 2 at a push). Also, they need to add toilet roll to the large toilet upstairs near room 29 and maybe fix the cieling light in room 29. The brown wires could be seen. Other than that, for £18 it was acceptable.

United KingdomYou can hear some noise from outside (Traffic and ambulances) The bathroom and the main facilities need some maintenance ( i.e loose shower panel, difficult/tight to get the key on the lock, you need to fully turn over the tap on the bathroom to get hot water and you will spill the water all over, the facilities are old fashioned) Don't check the expiring date on the dairy products.
Affordable price. Good location. The bedroom was clean and comfy bed. Friendly chef at breakfast. Near a very nice church/coffee shop ( recommended to stop by)
