How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The car park was on the site but you can’t get a space due to all the staff being on their so expect to park somewhere else and window was broken.

Looks a bit tired in places however clean so no complaints.

Beds and pillows very hard. Zero mobile phone signal in or near hotel

Its difficult to park in busy periods
Great location , very friendly staff - typical old seaside hotel in a great location. Breakfast is excellent , buffet style with as much as you can eat. Bar is reasonably priced and also bar meals are good and not too expensive.

Bear in mind this is a very old hotel, the corridors are a little uneven and make quite a bit of noise, the decor dated in parts , but that is part of the charm of staying in a victorian seafront hotel. Hotel was quite noisy at night, it sounded like there was water/boiler running all night. Despite that we still enjoyed our stay.
Staff were attentive and friendly and tried their best to keep us happy. Good variety of food available for dinner although we ate out. Great breakfast, very tasty.

Bed a bit small, sink too close to the toilet, double plug by wardrobe, one was not usable. The plan was to bring our dog but we didn't, so I think we had the dog room... couldn't lock for at night.
Staff were friendly, felt like I had known a few for years, really felt at ease, lady in bar area was very nice..

Would be nice to invest more in the redecoration of the entire building as it has lots of potential, carpets in rooms needs to be changed, and new windows.
Very friendly and polite staff, beds we're comfortable, towels clean and bathroom as well.

The hotel is in an excellent position, the staff very friendly efficient and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. Although there were some bad points, they were suffering problems with the boiler and therefore no heating although we were offered a heater, choices on the menu could have been more varied for dinner and the hotel is tired and in need of many repairs and updating.

Poor evening meal
Great location, one room was very good the other was very cramped , the breakfast was good but we ordered an evening meal one night and it wasn’t great so we didn’t risk eating in the evening again

No hot water boiler broken 😢
We love this hotel but had no hot water for 3 days tv brocken we put a complaint in and we have been informed to tell BOOKING. COM FOR COMPENSATION ALL THE GUESTS WERE INFORMED.

Bedroom was very basic, beds had obviously seen better days as could feel springs.
The location was perfect being situated on the sea front. Had no problems checking in. All staff were very helpful and gave the impression of a good happy team. The breakfast was excellent, all cooked food was hot and plenty of choice.

Breakfast could have been a bit slicker with more choice of cooked breakfast items - mushrooms , black pudding etc. Had to wait a time to get coffee and food trays refilled since there weren't enough staff to cope with the demand

Hot water system for shower took a long time to heat and had to turn the basin tap on to heat the shower so wasted water

Rooms were on different floors originally.Staff sorted so on same floor but at opposite ends of corridor. One room had a strong smell of urine in bathroom.
Breakfast was really good with a good selection of food on offer.Staff were friendly and efficient.Location was excellent.

Its in need of some TLC, and is very warm.
Its a pleasant hotel, breakfast is buffet style and plenty of choice. The bar area is welcoming and staff are hardworking and lovely.

While we were on a ground floor room there was a steep stairs from the car park, but we were able to park in the dront and bring our luggage in. Also for some reason there eas a smell in the bathroom which ss a wetroom could have been damp, but told reception and they said they would ask domebody to check it.
The hotel was lovely, instead of a family room they gave us a ground floor seaview room with wetroom. It was really spacious. The breakfast was very good also.
