Would have preferred a firmer mattress, but realuse that's not to everyone's taste.

    Nothing to report here.

A nice room in the newer part of the hotel which was ideal for a one night stay. I only had breakfast, but this was very pleasant and provided an excellent start to the day.

Friendly and luxurious but a little chilly in January (and with a new £5 per night parking charge)

The tea/coffee machine in the restaurant doesn't heat the water to a hot enough temperature so we ordered fresh tea and coffee every day. One night in the bar I ordered an Americano and it came from that machine. It was tepid once milk was added, a waste of £3/£4 for a disappointing cup (this isn't usual for the hotel's standards, we fed back at breakfast to the staff, and the bar manager on the evening). We're not generally at the location in January and although it was warm and cosy in the evening when we arrived (the heating going off at 11pm), in the morning it was chilly throughout the place. We enquired about the heating being on in the morning and were told it would come on at 5am. Getting up at 7am, the radiators were cold all day and we worried about how our towels would dry as the towel radiator was cold too. We were given an oil heater, which was very useful to warm the room until we left at midday each day. I understand there might not be enough guests to heat the whole hotel at this time, but it was 0-3 degrees outside. There is a new, £5 per night parking charge which wasn't on communications when I booked. This needs to be clearly advertised on Booking.com (currently you can only see this if you go into the FAQ section at the bottom of the hotel's page). I don't like this charge as there's nowhere else to park nearby, and it's unclear if it applies to mobility-impaired guests too (it shouldn't). Creeping costs, such as breakfast going up from £10.95 to £13.95, are hard to sell to customers. Customers like to feel there is value for money and free parking is a huge part of that, the customer experience and how it makes you feel to stay there. Shooting fish in a barrel by charging them to park in a remote location is something that will - and has already - impacted the hotel's ratings. Ditch the charge, add a little more to the rooms and everyone will be happy.

I really like this hotel and have stayed here many times. It's grand to look at with comfortable, spacious room that have all the facilities you need. The breakfast is extensive with veggie options, and we've had dinner here a few times - we now have a few favourite dishes including the smoked duck starter and the pan fried hake main. The staff are great and super-helpful. The bar area is relaxing and cosy.

It was a bit of a trek to get to our rooms but that was only an issue as I'm 4 weeks post knee surgery. I would otherwise be ok with the trek.

Good food, good breakfast and even though there was a Christmas party going on, we weren't disturbed when in our rooms

The wi-fi kept jumping out so had to keep logging back in. Rather frustrating.

All good. Wanted somewhere to stay close to where I was working. This fitted the bill. Room was comfortable and the breakfast was decent. So overall happy with my stay.

The food from the al la carte menu was crap, was not as described on the menu and was not flavoursome. When waiter was informed didn't even get a sorry or an offer of a different dish as I didn't eat more than a quarter.

Beautiful and quiet hotel, reception staff were really lovely. Very clean and prompt room service at no extra charge. Bed was nice and big and comfortable. Room had everything we needed and there was lots of parking.

The room was cold, no heating until 5pm and the outside temperature was -1. We brought this to the attention of reception who said heating was on a timer set for 4pm. There was no heating at all in the bathroom. We left at 9am the following morning and there was still no heating on.

Good location and the food was very good.

The hotel was a little dated, and had an odd smell about it but it was okay. The bed was hard. We were all evacuated for an hour and half due to a fire alarm going off but there was not slot of communication from the staff about this, and a lot of the staff were messing around in the car park. The shower was the worst thing about the room. The pressure was rubbish.

It was a good location, and the staff were friendly. The room is kind of modern.
