Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt took some time to get used to the noice of the traffic
It is a very great and cosy house. We loved to sit and eat in the eat-in kitchen and the serre (however it was sometimes too hot in there). Very easy to feel at home in this house.

United KingdomNothing.
First of all Jenny is lovely and made us feel so welcome. Property was lovely and much bigger than we expected. Well equipped kitchen and laundry room with everything you could need, really handy to have a freezer. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for 6 adults and a toddler. The weather was good during our visit so most of our time was spent in the garden or conservatory. Good location to use as a base for visiting Dunnet Head, John O Groats etc. Under 10 minutes by car to nearest village (Castletown) with a lovely butchers, well stocked Spar shop, hotel which serves food, chip shop and Chinese takeaway. You’ll also find access to the beach here (our grandson loved it). Throughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

United KingdomTo us,,,there's really not a lot to dislike about this house,, other than the lack of footpaths along the main road, which can be busy at times should you wish to go for a walk round the local area. Other than that,, you will not be disappointed.
This is a great central location to stay in Caithness. You're roughly halfway between the two main towns, Wick and Thurso. We were met there by the owner Jenny. She showed us round the house , telling us about the history of it and how she ended up owning the place. It's got a well equipped large kitchen , decent sized living room And good sized bedrooms. There's also a conservatory to the side of the house that looks out to the large garden. There was just the three of us there but plenty of room for a larger family with two bathrooms. One upstairs and one down stairs . Good off road parking..all in all ,,, a place I would definitely return to 👍👍👍👍,

United KingdomOnly one thing: Wifi. Although we spent all week trying to get online at the property, it was impossible.
Beautiful farmhouse with an enclosed garden, parking and so much space inside. Well equipped kitchen. Spacious laundry room which is perfect for when the weather is a little damp. Downstairs and upstairs bathrooms. Everywhere was so clean and thoughtfully provisioned. We had eggs and milk in the fridge as we arrived.

AustraliaNothing. We enjoyed it all.
Lovely house with plenty of space and a wonderful conservatory which was lovely to sit in and enjoy the sun. Farmland all around but it has its own garden space. House had everything we needed! Hosts even left us some huge fresh eggs and potatoes that baked up beautifully. Fireplace was left with timber ready to go. Take the time to have a drink in the public bar of the Castletown Hotel .. very friendly locals happy to tell you all about the area.

United KingdomThere was not one thing I didn’t like. It was perfect.
The location is great for getting to John o’ Groats, Thurso and also if visiting Orkney as we did for a day trip. A car is a must have to get around or maybe even bringing a bicycle. I loved that Jenny had left us a welcome folder that included information on the history of the house, also all the little things you may need on your stay like salt, tea, coffee, eggs, cooking oil, shower gel and much more were included which I thought was brilliant and thoughtful. There is a big garden and conservatory to relax in too. The WiFi worked great once I placed beside the living room window. The house is beautiful, clean and cosy and the host Jenny is lovely and helpful. Would 100% recommend and 100% would stay again. My 9 year old daughter loved it very much also. So if you are thinking of booking do it you won’t be disappointed. There is also a wood burner in the living room it would be cosy at night but unfortunately we never used it as weather was beautiful and hot for our stay.
