Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The rooms are a bit small with the wash basin in the bedroom rather than the bathroom. Our room meant climbing quite a few stairs - not a problem for us but could be for others
The owners and the breakfast was exceptional and in a good location.

Nothing. We couldn't find a fault
Everything. We were in room 1. It was spacious and very comfortable with en-suite. Breakfast was exceptional with plenty of buffet, cooked and gluten free options. The owners were very welcoming, chatty and helpful. With off road free parking included we were delighted with our first stay at the Arden. We will definitely book here again on our next visit to Harrogate. Location wise, it's about 5-10 mins walk to the town centre.

Nothing, everything was good.
Jan and Mark are really great hosts, very friendly and helpful. There's off road parking which is very important to me. The breakfast was very good. Arden house is a short easy walk into the town centre.

Place was nice. Very much a family vibe. Guy remembered why I was visiting Harrogate when I checked out and asked if I'd enjoyed the stay, thus exhibiting a nice personal touch

Genuinely nothing that wasn't up to scratch! The hosts even changed breakfast time to fit in with an early meeting for our conference.
Amazing hosts, wonderful breakfast choice, great location. Peaceful, clean and welcoming. Also so good to have free parking-quite rare nowadays!

Could do with a mirror or set up to do make-up drying hair in the room, room on the small size but I understand why.

The room TV was tiny and reception not great on some channels but only used it to watch news in morning so no real issue.
Owners were lovely, really friendly and gave lots of tips and info on area. Good location, easy walking distance to many different restaurants. Breakfast was exceptional. Highlight of the stay.

I booked a single room which was lovely and clean but I will book a double next time.
The hotel is lovely, the hosts charming. The breakfast was exceptional. The choice and quality superb and a selection of gorgeous homemade jams. Parking was right next to the hotel and just a short walk to the shops.

Everything, breakfast was amazing, lots of fresh fruits, toast, cereal and a fabulous menu for hot breakfasts. Our room was clean and tidy. With plenty of tea & coffee facility's & Soft towels. The owners were super helpful and so friendly. I will be booking again.

The shower cubicle was very small, consequently showering was not easy but it was appreciated that the best use had been made of the available space.
We were made very welcome. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

Our friendly hostess gave us a warm welcome and recommended an excellent restaurant for our evening meal. The breakfasts were superb with a wonderful selection of fresh fruits, and the cooked breakfasts were beautifully cooked and presented. The property was situated on a quiet road where it was easy to park with easy access to the centre of Harrogate, and we we were provided with parking permits

Unfortunately had to clean some tea stains that were on the door and had been missed .
