I found it a bit expensive considering the toilets and showers were outside.

Lovely location, great facilities for cooking and friendly host.

Mesmerizing place in the Scottish countryside!

This hostel is a gem! It is one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed at. It is immersed in the Scottish countryside, the view is towards the ocean and it is mesmerizing. In the common kitchen there are all the necessary tools to cook and prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything is super clean and the host is nice and available for any need. We would have loved to stay longer :-) It is the perfect place to unwind. Keep in mind that there are probably small stores at the nearby village (probably 5/10 minutes by car) and we took the wheelbarrows to carry our bags from the parking to the hostel since there is a small trail to reach the hostel. It was such an unusual and funny experience. Try to get there with all the food you need. The walk is short, max 10 mins. It won't be disappointed because you will feel inside a fairytale.

Shampoo and shower gel could be provided in the list of amenities. Toasters could also be included in the electrical appliances of the kitchen and picnic tables to be placed close to the firepit places in the garden to allow for eating outside after BBQ :)

Our host Ruth is hospitable & friendly ! The hostel is located in an amazing location with a great view of the sea and surrounding nature. Benches with fire pits for BBQ are located in the garden. Two restrooms are available for the guests staying in the dormitory at the main house. The shower was located in a single cabin outside the main house. Both the restrooms & the single shower bathroom were clean and spacious. Clean towels were provided at the dormitory. The dormitory where the beds are located are separated into three rooms with curtains and are spacious. A small sink with potable water is also located within the dormitory. A big kitchen equipped with all necessary kitchen utensils and electrical appliances is located at the ground floor and dinning room/common room place is located at the same place. Board games are available in the dining room/common room !

Wow, absolutely blown away We stayed as a family on our last night travelling around the west coast Nc500, and it made our trip. Our host was amazing, so friendly and welcoming, The pictures don't do it justice. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and we just wished we had stayed longer. We stayed in a pod, and it was perfect, very cosy, and had everything we needed. The hostel was also right in front, so you could pop in there too, we went into the common room and met up with some fantastic people and had a great night. Loved the wheelbarrow to take your things down in. That was a laugh and part of the quirky experience. Will definitely be back if we are in the area.

    Nothing for me

Great location and a unique experience. You have to walk the last 5 minutes and use a wheelbarrow to carry you stuff in which was hilarious. A very peaceful location if you want to really feel like you’ve escaped the busy world we live in. The pod was surprisingly comfortable. Loved our stay, thank you Ruth.

The fridge wasn’t working, the owner checked it and it couldn’t be fixed. We were given ice blocks to use instead and there is a communal fridge in the hostel

Perfect location, so tranquil and a beautiful drive there. Only stayed 1night, wish it could be longer. Underfloor heating was a real bonus and everything you needed had been considered

The fact that we only booked one night. But hey ho - we will fix our mistake and next time will stay significantly longer :)

If you are considering to visit Acheninver Hostel - do not hesitate! BOOK IT NOW! It will totally exceed your expectations. We were not expecting what we got when we arrived! If you are looking for not bed, sleeping arrangements etc - but for experience, adventure, super vibe and that Scottish Highlands true feeling - this is your place! The location is breathtaking! Views you will go to bed to and wake up to will leave you speechless! We have only stayed one night when doing nc500 route so we were moving around the coast and each night staying in different place but Acheninver Hostel was a highlight when it comes to accommodations we used during our trip. We are already planning on returning and definitely for longer! When it comes to property it self and what you will find - expect crispy freshness - I am bit of a cleanliness freak and hate when entering to feel like someone has slept in the bed before me, used toilet etc. even though you know this is what the place is used for. But Acheninver Hostel gave me a feeling like I was first person ever in! Linen was freshly laundered, crispy clean. Bathroom spotless! Shower provided water pressure close to the one from Scottish magnificent waterfalls! We didn't use the hostel kitchen as we checked in quite late and departed early in the morning, but the annex that is in the pod is enough to fix some food quickly to get you ready to hit the road. Oh, and don't get me started about the wheelbarrow that you need to take to get your luggage to the place! It ads on to the whole experience and character of the place! Wouldn't change it! My husband and daughter started wheelbarrow challenge! One of them failed miserably, but I will not share which one was it ;) Little tip - when you check in look carefully for 'hopes and dreams generator' - I shall say no more.... ;)

I wish we had stayed another night to explore the area!

We stopped here whilst travelling the NC500 on our honeymoon. We had the place to ourselves. I didn't meet Ruth however I know she was around to help us if needed. The view from the pod was fantastic and just a short walk to the beach. The pods had everthing needed and were so warm!

Some of the walls in the pods were wet after the snow in the night. That made our clothes that hanged nearby also wet. Maybe there is a way to fix it. Otherwise, there should be a sign that one should not leave the clothes on the hanger.

The hostel is located in a picturesque nature reserve and surrounded by mountains and the sea. I can not express how beautiful the location is, you must see it. The pod was equipped quite well, it was also warm. Ruth is exceptional host and was very helpful and nice.

Amazing remote location, the site is only accessible by a short walk from the car park and wheelbarrows are provided to transport belongings down to the site - what a quirky idea! The pod was immaculate with great views. The pods should be advertised separately from the hostel itself, they are beautiful glamping pods, hidden gems!

Remote spot looking across to the Summer Isles. Our cabin was warm, clean with lovely furnishings and a great shower. We were in cabin 1 - I think the 2-3 cabins further along have a slightly better view (cabin one ishalf behind the nice hostel building but you can still see the sea etc from the bed). We liked the 300m walk to the cabin/hostel (the moon was bright enough for us to see in the dark too!). Nice clean kitchen area in the main building just a few yards from the cabins if you want to cook or make breakfast there.
