How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No staff available at any time and didn’t answer messages in a timely manner. Place was a bit dusty. Only three pillows on the bed. Shower flooded easily as drain was blocked.

We have received a room with a bathroom for people with disabilities and we have been announced 2 hours before we were arriving the location, even that we were not asking for this! Reservation was done for a normal room!

The host was really helpful and provided house keeping which was nice. The best value for money and the location is in the heart of Alicante. If you are planning a getaway with friends this is the Perfect place to be. We are so grateful for letting us stay at your beautiful place and we will definitely be back one day!

Small/not critical things to improve - floor was very cold for us, good to have some slippers on the place! Battle opener/good knife should be great to have!
In general all was very good - very clean modern space in the city with restaurants but not far from the nearest beach. So very comfortable for the family to spend time! Thanks for accommodation!

Air conditioning was inadequate for the unit - this is a real problem! Made contact with property manager via WhatsApp and no response until the next day AFTER we checked out LOL
Terrific location steps away from water. Difficult to access because of construction at the time (because of one way roads). Clean contemporary design Spacious and reasonably equipped kitchen (we didn’t use it) Stayed in 2 bedroom suite

There was no check in or any information given about how or when we were to check in or check out. Had to ring multiple times to even get access to the building. Was just to told to be out by 11am the next day or pay for another night yet there was nobody there to see that we had checked out?
Very comfortable and liked that we could separate the bedrooms while still being in the same room

The kitchen is very small and poorly equipped.
Its location is good. The airport, the train station and the beach are easily accessible. There are restaurants and shops nearby. You can hear the street noise, but there is no music, there is a loud bar in the area.

The only negative is that there is no balcony nor drying rack so our beach towels and swimsuits couldn’t dry at all.
Excellent property. Modern and clean. The location is just perfect as it is close to everything.

Location was great. Facilities were great. We also liked that the rooms were separated to give us that little bit of privacy. Lovely to have complimentary water and soda in the room - so often this doesn’t happen, but it’s just a great touch and very welcome!

Unless you download a taxi app you could wait forever to get a taxi from nearby
Everything in the property was excellent totally exceptional the beds were top notch didn’t want to get out of it the showers OMG amazing the area was quiet air con was phenomenal one complaint the toilet seat didn’t fit correctly on the first toilet so couldn’t sit on the toilet had to use the second one the staff were beyond amazing super supportive absolutely phenomenal they made our stay exceptional
