The owners and staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We ate at the restaurant which was excellent and cannot think of a better place to explore Tuscany from. Highly recommend staying at Albergo Diffuso Borgo Santo.

Set in the centre of Buonconvento, Hotel Ghibellino is a family-run property offering free parking and free Wi-Fi. Cakes, fresh fruit and cold meats are served as part of the buffet breakfast. Good for one night stay on Via Francigena. Great location. Very friendly staff.

Piccolo Hotel San Valentino is set in the Tuscany countryside of Asciano. It offers air-conditioned rooms and a buffet breakfast with homemade cakes and traditional salamis. Piccolo Hotel San Valentino is set on top of a hill in the middle of the fairytale Val d'Orcia. Among cypress trees, olive groves and crete senesi. The Abbey of San Oliveto Maggiore is about a kilometre away. The hotel has a restaurant, but it closes in the evening, so it's completely quiet at night - the nearest village is several kilometres away. For breakfast we got everything we wanted: there was sheep's cheese, all sorts of spreads, yoghurts, prosciutto if you wanted it and several types of pastries. The room was not large but comfortable, the wi-fi worked, there are mosquito nets on the windows - although there are not many around the hotel, and the room is air-conditioned. We were able to visit a classical music festival in nearby Asciano. And of course all the staff were extremely friendly and willing to help.
