Centrally located in the historic city of Durham, Hotel Indigo Durham occupies Old Shire Hall, on Old Elvet, just 5 minutes from Durham Railway station and 400 metres from Durham Cathedral and Castle.... The hotel is in a stunningly beautiful 1905 red stone building within a short walk of the shopping, restaurants, much of the university and the cathedral. The interior and exterior of the structure have been lovingly restored and maintained, with the original floors, terracotta decoration and stained glass. The dining room, which also serves a reasonably priced and generous breakfast, is in the exquisite circular council chamber. Our room was large and very comfortable, with a generous and beautifully finished bathroom. All of the staff we spoke to were exceedingly friendly and helpful. They seem to be proud of where they work, and who could blame them.

Within easy driving distance of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland, the magnificent spectacle of Lumley Castle has dominated the County Durham landscape for over 630 years. We really enjoyed our stay and the atmosphere that characterises Lumley Castle. It was cozy and lovely. I would defined recommend staying in this place for a weekend getaway (especially during Christmas season). This castle is gorgeous and the staff was really kind. There is a wonderful bar, restaurant and breakfast room which are worth trying!

Beamish Hall Country House Hotel, BW Premier Collection ligger i en park på 24 hektar, kun 16 km fra byen Durham. Hotellet er en hal fra det 13. Stunning grounds and entrance. Clean and modern. Lovely restaurant with nice staff. Ease of access. Hotel staff were so accommodating- Susan and Alex really made it such a a wonderful experience. The highlight was the night porter who ran all sorts of errands for us in the morning. He was a legend but we didn’t get his name!

Built in the style of a Manor House making it one of the most distinctive hotels in Northumberland. Lovely hotel brilliant service staff were all lovely fantastic overall experience
