The neighborhood was cultivated as an industrial town mining iron during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Then in the 1960’s the area began to see an influx of bars and nightclubs as jazz and blues became more popular. This area is now a thriving community full of nightlife but the original industrial feel is still present in the cobblestone road, historic buildings and architectural style of the area.
