Without a doubt this is the best hostel in Colombia. It is filled with color and joy, making every moment you spend there fantastic. Comfortable beds, real sheets and an owner, Gerard, with high octane energy that is infectious. All you will find here are endless smiles and new friends. If Michelin gave stars to hostels, this would be a 3 star. Worth the trip to San Augustin just to stay at Hostal Bambu.

Price for the accommodation is very good. The location is in a working-class quiet neighborhood. Very simple hotel - was a great value at less than 1/2 the price of anything else listed on Booking.com in Villavieja. Don't expect luxury, some small details weren't the best in the world (bed was hard), but for a traveler looking to experience the desert on a budget it's just fine. Very principally located to the main plaza - where the bus drops you off from Neiva, where there are restaurants and where you can find transportation to the desert. We were happy with our decision to stay in town instead of the desert.
