Offering a barbecue and ski storage space, AIBIYA is located in Yamanouchi in the Nagano Region, 4.1 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park. I can't begin to describe how good my stay was here. The accommodations were amazing. The room was warm and cozy. The building was beautiful and looked new and clean but, had the charm of an old traditional Japanese home. I came to snowboard and they had a room to store and dry all my wet gear. They were able to handle shipping my snowboard to and from the airport with Yamato transport. There is a direct bus to and from Shiga Kogen every day as well. There is not an onsen on site but, you can buy tickets to various local onsens, all of which were spectacular. All onsens had an indoor and outdoor bath. Breakfast was served every morning and, it was great to eat and chat with other travelers. Truly, the best part about staying here was the owners themselves. Yoshi and Seong-mi were two of the kindest, most friendly people I've encountered on any of my trips across the world. They made my experience feel like I was staying with my brother and sister. In fact, the whole town of Yudanaka felt like home to me and, I know this is a place I will never forget for the rest of my life.

A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. Close to yudanaka station - the onsen was jaw dropping at night, and we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast course meals a lot. Service was great, and I appreciate the lift to yudanaka station the day we checked out.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. The service as this Ryokan was 10/10, and was the most authentic one we stayed in during our 4 weeks in Japan. The staff were so lovely, and spoke great English. They showed us to our room, and gave us essentially a "room tour" whilst we drank complimentary tea. They gave us a map with nearby restaurants and ammenties noted on it. The private outdoor onsen was SO nice! You book a slot upon arrival, which you can access in the evening with 30 min slots. The onsen was large and the perfect contrast with the fresh cool air in the evening. Yukatas were provided for us as an option to wear around the hotel - both my partner and I are bigger than the average Japanese person (Wife is plus size, I am 6ft 2) and we both comfortably fit into the ones picked out for us. The only thing that threw us was that during breakfast, they cleared the beds from our room - had we known people would go in, we'd probably have neatened the room a bit haha! P.S don't skip the sushi restaurant a few doors down from the hotel. The sushi was EXQUISITE and they even have a phonetic Japanese to English page at the front so you can have a go at ordering properly with the chef.

A small 6-room inn with Ryokan meals and cosy interiors, Yasuragi is just a few minutes drive to Jigokudani Monkey Park and an 8-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station. Hot-spring baths are featured.... The owners were amazing! Unmatched hospitality, and they even helped with transportation to-and-from the station and to attractions in the area. The Ryokan itself exceeded expectations. The traditional style room was clean and spacious. The onsen was also very refreshing (and can be reserved). I did not take them up on their dinner offer, but I would give it a go if I return here.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. Great hotel with fabulous onsen (both the room/private and the hotel guests onsen). Spacious and clean room and wonderful roof top bar experience. Staff at dinner, breakfast and at the roof top were an absolute dream of kindness and professionalism. During the private dinner the chef came to prepare the sushi by our table which was incredible. The food was absolutely exquisite using local produce and prepared and presented with such a delicacy as I've never seen before! What a treat! Walking distance from the station but possible to get a ride from the hotel (need to ask them in advance). A great place to stay!

A 3-minute walk from Yudanaka Station, Hotel Tsubakino features indoor and outdoor hot spring baths with a vista of snowy mountain peaks. The hotel offers Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi. We had an absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Tsubakino. The staff were extremely helpful and thoughtful in their service. We enjoyed the very relaxing onsen as well as the evening sake tasting and the delicious breakfast provided. The house apple juice was fantastic and we bought a bottle to take with us. They kept our luggage after check-out while we were visiting monkeys. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Boasting both indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, Kamei-no-Yu is traditional accommodation surrounded by beautiful Japanese garden and ponds. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property. Tomo is the best! He is so friendly and accommodating. The property is beautiful and the rooms are perfect! The food was seriously some of the best we had in our entire 1 month stay in Japan. Onsens were gorgeous too!

Yudanaka Seifuso is located in the Yudanaka hot springs area, surrounded by scenic mountains. It features 3 hot spring baths and traditional Japanese-style rooms with tatami-mat (woven-straw)... Traditional ryokan with very rustic feel, exactly what we wanted. Location is right by the station which is super convenient, and there is a Lawson and 7-11 within 3-min walk. There is a private onsen which you can go to for free without paying extra! You just go in and lock the door and it’s yours for however long you want. They provided free tea and cookies in our room daily. One of the owners was kind enough to drive us to the Snow Monkey park, which we appreciated a lot !!

Located a 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Hotel Housei offers free WiFi access, indoor/outdoor hot spring baths and air-conditioned Japanese-style rooms. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. The included breakfast was wonderful. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was perfect. An all around wonderful place to stay. Also it was well priced.
