The Hotel is a bit tired but I think that’s par for the course around the area. Yes it’s a bit pricy but it’s the middle of peak winter season and you’re in snow paradise so …! The bathroom communal onsen is small - but easy to get to yourself. The water is soooo hot - but great for a soak. Smells great - authentic onsen water. The big family room is basic, but a traditional Japanese type stay - sleeping on futons on tatami. Plenty of extra blankets provided. Gas heaters in room are effective but you wouldn’t leave them on at night so it does cool down. Kotatsu is amazing to slip under, keep warm and rehydrate !!
