Set in the chic residential Aventino area of Rome, San Anselmo is a 19th-century villa with garden, where breakfast is served in fine weather. It offers elegant rooms and overlooks Sant’Anselmo... We had the garden room. The setup, with the bathroom downstairs, is unusual but pleasantly surprised us. The room was big enough and decorated in a classical way that fits the style of the building. Breakfast was not special but sufficient. Location was perfect, a bit secluded but on walking distance to Trastevere.

Sourire Hotel offers accommodation centrally located in Rome, just a 14-minute walk from the Coliseum. It features free WiFi throughout and air-conditioned rooms. The location was very convenient to why I was there. The breakfast was always amazing fresh fruit, juices, tea's, pastries, variety of meats and cheeses and fresh coffee ( americano or cappuccino).

Located 600 metres from the Testaccio area and a short walk across the Tiber River to the Trastevere area, Hotel Major Aventinus offers rooms with views of the garden or street. Everything was perfect. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and always at your service. Immaculate cleanliness. Excellent location. The garden is perfect for enjoying and relaxing. I will definitely come to this hotel again.

Located on the Aventino, one of Rome's 7 hills, Santa Prisca is 10 minutes' walk from FAO headquarters and 400 metres from Piramide Metro Station. Parking and internet are free. No thrills central hotel where you can find tranquility and a comfortable night sleep at a fair price. Spotless spacious bedroom with immaculate bathroom and good shower pressure. Friendly helpful staff, smooth check-in and check-out. Good location to explore Rome or to catch the early morning trains to the airport from Ostiense station which is only 15 min walk away. Free voucher was included for an authentic Italian breakfast at the bar opposite the hotel, perfect way to start the day!

In the centre of Rome, Hotel Aventino is located on the quiet Aventine Hill, a 10-minute walk from Circo Massimo Metro. It features elegant rooms and free WiFi throughout. We loved everything about Hotel Aventino. It's a small place that has a friendly soul, is charmingly designed and run with great care and attention to detail. The high quality furniture is especially noteworthy. Our room was quiet and very clean. Sheets and towels felt high quality as well, nothing felt old or smelled of bad detergent. All amenities worked excellently. Staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The building is located in a quiet upscale residential area, with Metro and bus stops at Circus Maximus about a ten minute walk away, and Trastevere just across the Tiber, which was perfect for our needs. We'd book again in a heartbeat

The design hotel Abitart is situated in the heart of the Ostiense neighbourhood, close to Ostiense Railway and Metro Station, which provides quick access to all of Rome, including Fiumicino Airport. Dry nice and comfortable hotel, excellent location, staff is extremely friendly; we were a bit disappointed from the breakfast, but you may find a plethora of local restaurants and food shops nearby

Hotel Villa San Pio is located on Rome's green Aventine Hill. Made up of 3 separate villas, and quiet gardens. The elegant rooms feature wood floors and decorative walls. So many things to like about this place: One of the best possible locations in Rome, just outside the tourist flows, but still close enough to everything (some 10 mins on foot to Circo Massimo, and another 7 or so to the Colloseum) in a green and quiet oasis full of hidden gems (in particular various chruches and Benedictine monasteries). Clean, comfy rooms with generous balconies, and all the luxury one needs, but nothing ostentatious. Decent breakfast buffet (although it can get a bit boring over several days) with sufficient salty choice, unlike most bars in Italy which will only serve you sweet stuff for breakfast. And above all nice and helpful (and fortunately not intrusive or overly eager to please) staff whether at breakfast, cleaning or front desk (and thinking here of signore Ettore in particular).
