Parts of Biddeford were lively and busy with independent shops and eateries. The Bread Cafe was excellent. The staff were very attentive and engaging. We didn’t eat there as we had already eaten a large breakfast but the Rock Buns looked amazing and were very popular with other customers. However, there was also an area that looked a little rundown and in need of some tlc. A sign of the times sadly.

My accommodation was five miles or so from Bideford, in the countryside. Bideford offers shopping and eating opportunities and is a pleasant town. Not a place to spend all your time but, a good base from which to explore N. Devon.

We went in the winter which limited us a little but that's no criticism of the town or area, of course. Lots of tourist facilities. LOADS of activities and nearby beaches/estuaries. Shops open everywhere despite it being March and cold and wet.
It's a lovely place to visit for holiday/break/activities. Perhaps a tiny bit old fashioned but that added to the charm and if you needed tech it was there, just not so much in your face as at home.
Just the right atmosphere for family and/or romance.
Loveliest views & stunning landscapes offering endless walking/hiking/biking/watersports.

Superb fish & chips at Mr Chips and amazing Chinese food for takeaway at Mr Ho, loads of great restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
All large supermarkets available and the shopping area by Asda is worth a look.
Lot's of great charity shops but very uphill walk which is not really user friendly for anyone using crutches or walking stick, best to get droped off at the top and take it steady back down to the river front.

Friendly town with good places for the family to dine and rest. Ample areas to stroll around the town with waterfront and parks. Shopping is adequate and supermarkets allow for self-dining if required. Affordable restaurants and welcoming staff everywhere we visited.

The location was so central to everything.
The location was so central to everything. Albeit in the sticks. Biddeford is very pretty. The surrounded pubs are wonderful. Nothing is too far away
We went to Victoria park. Great on a warm day for kids
Clovelly was beautiful and a lovely experience
The thatched in pub was fab
Westward ho! Beach and the waterfront inn is a must
The location was perfect for visiting just about anywhere in North Devon and into Cornwall. Just far enough off the main road to be quiet. Very cosy with the log burner lit, even with a gale blowing through the front door. Good, social kitchen area. Lounge a good size, as were the bedrooms and bathroom. Parking for one car, (it says to park on the gravel but it's covered with grass so it's difficult to gauge).
The hotel is easy to find and within a few miles of Westward Ho! (Taxi approx £6) don’t bother going into Bideford for anything to do though. Lovely outdoor heated swimming pool onsite where you could always find a lounger. Breakfast was good, didn’t eat in the evening in the hotel. Restaurant manager was really lovely, along with Jean in House keeping.
The landlady is very friendly and seems eager to help with anything. Room is functional with everything needed for an overnight stay. Home cooked breakfast was very nice and perfect to start the day. Location is good with only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of takeaways and a pleasant wetherspoons.
Very good value indeed for a clean, comfortable room and friendly staff. It is an unpretentious 3 star hotel but the basics are all very strong.
Service at dinner and breakfast was quick and helpful.
Car park was not large but there was plenty of room on a Sunday and it is conveniently situated just across the road.
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon.
The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful also.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
Pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. Clean, tidy, nicely presented. Decent sized and comfortable beds with walk in wardrobes in both bedrooms and plenty of room for clothes/suitcases. Just around the corner from the bar/play area/pool etc. All in all, great base to explore north Devon.
Rooms comfortable and very warm. Lounge and bar area nicely laid out and comfortable. Bar food and breakfast was very nice.
Nicely positioned in easy walking distance of the town.
Free hotel parking conveniently situated. There is also alternative parking very close by.
Very old inn full of character but with well equipped and comfortable room. lovely garden sitting area for a quiet glass of wine.
We had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant and staff were efficient and attentive.
Really helpful, friendly hosts and comfortable cottage in an excellent location to explore Bideford , Tarka Trail and north Devon. Hockings ice cream in Bideford is excellent!
Lovely view, nice little kitchen, cheapest stay we could find in Bideford for 4 people. Beautiful location. Luckily extra duvets and pillows. Appreciated the dining table.
Mel & Steve made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Good local knowledge of the area which was great for us as it was our first time in Bideford.
The host contacted straight away giving process for gaining access to the property .location was perfect will definitely be staying again when we're in the area .
The breakfast was okay but the service was disorganised on the second day. The location was good with just a short walk to the beach and car journey into Bideford
After visiting Exmoor, hotel in good location for our travels down the Cornwall coast the following day. Absolutely fantastic shower- terrific water pressure
Absolutely fantastic, everything you needed was available, it was clean and tidy and in a very nice area. The owners although we rarely saw them were lovely.
