This is a great place to stay for when you want to have your own private quiet space (and a bit more space than a typical hotel room), but still want to be cared for by hotel-like staff. We landed on this place because I wanted to stay in a typical Ryokan, but my husband wanted his own bathroom. It was the best stay of our Japan trip out of 3 hotels that were all far above average. It feels very secluded and private, there are around 10 apartments in total and everyone has their own entrance. There's a coin washing machine as well. There is a small breakfast buffet with really great coffee and they provide some free snacks during the day as well I believe. All in all it feels really kind and caring.

The wooden decor throughout the place created a warm and comfortable atmosphere, further enhanced by a quaint garden right inside. Its location is a winner, nestled in the historical part of Kyoto, making most popular tourist attractions easily accessible. Staying in Kiyomizu 1 was a treat with a beautiful view over the Yasaka Pagoda from the second floor. The very unique Japanese breakfast experience was a delightful start to our day, introducing us to local flavors and customs. We cherished our stay and Campton Kiyomizu will be a choice destination whenever we find ourselves in Kyoto again.

Real gem and amazing stay- we stayed at Biwa. If you want to have a Japanese stay experience, I recommend you to stay here! Really unique experience, with free mini bar! Staff were really friendly and welcomed us with a big smile. Rule book was sufficient. Hosts also gave us a celebratory gift for our anniversary, thank you so much, we really enjoyed the stay. The place is slightly far from public transport so do plan some time to locate it. Do take some time to cool off the water hot tub if you think it is too hot!
