It's the perfect place of what I'm looking for. Best place for self reflection and soul searching. It has a quiet and peaceful ambience at the same time, a safe place to stay. It is one of the best areas in Almaty for hiking. I would love to go back someday to hike in Alatau National Park to see the "Big Almaty Lake." You will wake up with a mountain view and birds chirping around. Squirrels climbing up the trees is a plus. Restaurants are lined up from the main road, so food is not a big issue. Highly recommended for solo travellers or with friends who have similar interests.

I enjoyed my stay at Best Western Plus Ataken. The hotel has a good location. For me, it was close to where my friend lives. I chose this hotel because it was good value for money. The staff were helpful and willing to help if needed. The breakfast was very good and exceeded my expectations - there were hot and cold dishes, a variety of vegetables and fruit, soup, local pastries (various samsa and pirozhki) and you could also ask for an egg dish to be cooked for you. My room was quite comfortable, the furniture was a bit worn, but I don't mind that as long as there is enough space to hang my clothes and arrange my belongings. There is also a fridge and a kettle with a selection of tea and instant coffee. Some of hotel rooms have a beautiful view on the mountains, I bet, but mine had just a view on the patio. To get to different places I used taxis and they are very accessible and arrive within a maximum of 12 minutes. The way from the airport to the hotel takes about 45 minutes.
