This place was fine. It was cheap and clean but I'm pretty sure we were the only people in the whole hotel. The location is ok, but not great. the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast looked not good so we skipped it.

The service from the staff was impeccable from the moment we walked into the lobby. They were warm and always attentive. We ordered room service and ate at the restaurant and the food was always delicious! The afternoon tea was a nice treat with a beautiful view of the sunset. We loved that there was a water machine in our room in addition to bottled water. Everything was perfect.

The pool looked clean but we didn't use it. The breakfast was good - lots of fruits, eggs, sausages + Asian options. The room was huge , clean and comfy, lots of electrical outlets to plug in our chargers. Easy walk to Borobudur and restaurants. Grab drivers knew where it was located. The lounge area near the pool was nice. We thought we were the only Western tourists staying at the hotel when we were there. The staff was superb and very accommodating.

Why did I wait so long to visit? A true surprise. Not as tourist-geared as Ubud/Bali. Authentic, catering to local domestic travellers, yet with a world class heritage attraction. Friendly locals, though the touts selling souvenirs did get annoying.

I returned to see Borobodur after 31 years.
I returned to see Borobodur after 31 years. It was as impressive as it was the last time. Everything around the temple is much better organized and channeled through the officials.
Still an amazing thing to do - I would recommend to read up on Borobodur before your visit to better understand all the stories behind it and its place in the Javanese and South East Asian history.

The information given by the guide is good and interesting, despite the fact that I am a Buddhist, there is much to learn from this trip. The thousand years old structure is just awesome but I must stress that anyone who wants to visit must do a little "home work" by reading up about Candi Borobudur , otherwise you might not catch some of the meaning behind the Candi and Buddhism. The Candi is fragile due to thousands of visitors and I urge everyone to visit with care and respect.

Borobudur temple is always so grand to look at and enjoyable in early morning or late afternoon. The history within the walls are just mesmerizing to look at.
After 9 am until around 3pm and on clear day, the sun gets too hot.
Having hats or umbrellas and plenty of water and sunscreen might help. But they won't stop the swarming sellers, before the entrance and after the exit, coming at you. So just be firm and polite and keep on walking if you do not want to buy anything from them. But if you do want to buy some souvenirs, you could bargain to a reasonable price.
I suggest to have a walk to the entrance stairs of the temple and don't forget to wear your comfortable walking shoes too.
This time around we took delman or horse carriage for around 5 minutes ride (less than 10 mins ride for sure) to the entrance stairs of the temple and, if not wrong, it cost around AUD20.
They also provide other services like train cars for a fee (can't remember how much), but I think it is better to hire them when you finished touring the temple and when your legs are too tired or when it's just too hot. Unless you want to explore the other facilities around (on the way to the exit) like checking out their museums and theatre.
You are not allowed to bring food or snacks into the temple complex (water is allowed). They will keep them for you to collect at the exit. So make sure you have enough food before going in.
We've never been to their restaurant/hotel in the complex, because there are plenty of choices of food just outside the complex.
For getting around outside the complex, in general, there are too many cars and motorbikes around the area, so you may want to keep walking on whatever pedestrian path available.
Cash is still preferable in the food chains and stalls outside the temple complex

Ofcourse its one of the things to see when your travels take you close to it. But it is a tourist trap. You can go in from 8.00 in the morning (not earlier anymore, like before you could go for sunrise, that is not possible anymore). You have to take a guided tour if you want to go up. The guide tells a lot about the history and is well trained. The costs are 500.000 rupiah pp. if you only walk around at the bottom it’s 350.000 rupiah. Before you leave the park you are guided through a fairly large market with touristy souvenirs.

The temple of Borobudur needs no review, it stands on his own.
New visiting rules (on 11/04/2023). Closed on monday. Reception opens on 06.30, but only for the parc. At 08.00 you can buy a ticket to go on the temple, and waiting till 09.00. Then they formed little groups of 15-20 people to go on the temple with a guide ! Visit lasts about one hour.
The Host was the friendliest and most welcoming person we have ever met.
He prepared a map with all good restaurants and shops/ATMs in the area and even wrote down some usefull indonesian phrases for ordering food.
He helped us with everything we needed and always tried his best to make our time in borobudur as pleasant as possible.
the room was very clean and the garden is beautiful. The breakfast was also good.
His home-grown Snake Friuts are delicious;)
I can highly recommend this place as you will instantly feel at home.
The unit is as you see in the pictures. It would be excellent for those looking to unwind and get close to nature. Bobby was an excellent host who was so helpful with everything we needed during our short stay. An excellent and unique location for those who want to stay nearby so as to visit Punthak Setumbu for sunrise, Gereja Ayam and Borobudur. Stay at least 2 days to visit nearby places of interest and to do a walking village tour with Bobby or you can also opt for a tour around the village via a vintage volkswagen!
Amazing staff, super friendly, service amazing. Food menu is extensive, breakfast very nice. Good cocktails. The hotel arranged VIP tickets for the borobodur. The transportation to and from other places was within the hotel fee, without any trouble.
This hotel is a gem if you like the quietness for a few days, everything is very relaxed. The pool is amazing and also has a view towards the Borobodur temple complex.
Hotel room was very nice, Indonesian style interior with a very comfortable bed.
The breakfast was amazing. I especially loved their homemade gethuk!! Having breakfast whilst overlooking the Borobudur and the rice paddies was as peaceful as it can get. My soul couldn't thank me enough for having a peaceful short getaway at Bhumi Kasuryan. Rent a bike from Pak Budi, one of their main staffs, to give you the freedom to venture around the quaint town of Magelang and its friendly villages. Make sure you give everyone you pass a big smile. I miss the place already.
The host was friendly and gave us several informations about the city and a Wellcome coffee. Our room was at the first floor, it was a large room and we could use the external space to chill just outside the room, there were chairs and a coffee table. We had breakfast in the beautiful backyard. The hotel is in the city center and it was very easy to get to Borobudur temple in the morning.
Modern villa was very nice with a magnificent view of the mountains from the garden. Lovely koi pond and outdoor patio. Nice bed and tv was fine.. but not enough time to try out the bathtub! In room dining - Iga Bakar Sapi was awesome !
Breakfast was on a la carte order.
We tried the horse rides..Nice.
Drop off and pickup from the temple was good. Wonderful driver ☺️
We spent an amazing moment in this place. It is beautiful, cute and cosy. The people working there are more than attentive and caring. Also the access and localisation just 5min away the temple is perfect for visiting. We recommend you to stay at least two days to enjoy a nice relaxing moment in the villages nearby as well and enjoy both visiting and the hotel pool :)
The location is great. Close to Borobudur temple. They also provide bikes free to use to explore the village area. Breakfast were variative and delicious, staffs were polite and nice, most importantly, it is surrounded by ricefields which gives you peaceful vibe and feeling.
A nice room design. Large swimming pool, so many vegetation makes the hotel feels like colder in hot and humid Magelang. there is also a private carnival for kids.
located just a couples km from Borobudur, Punthuk Setumbu can be reached within 6 minutes driving.
The staff is very nice and always ready to help with my requests. The restaurant also serves nice food with good value. Location is quite close to the temples in the area. It's a perfect choice if one wants to visit Borobudur and prambanan.
One of the best places we have stayed during our two-month tour of Indonesia. Our room is facing the rice fields and we could see the sun rise from the bed. The host and the staff are really friendly and we feel very much at home.
the best location, only 10 minutes walking to the Borobudur temple. the staff are supper friendly and helpful. The room was clean. the breakfast was excellent! we really enjoyed staying the Omah and highly recommend to everyone.
-Padma Spa 1000% must try

-Good ambience of the resort n all staff very helpful. Thx for our butler "Mas Bimo" who has helped with all our needs while staying in the Villa
Loved the rice terrace view! Very peaceful in the evening and during breakfast. The breakfast was very nice with good coffee and Indonesian treats. It was nice to just bike ride over to Borobudur.
Staff were so kind & helpful. The pool was great. Lovely hotel setting. Meals were delicious. 5 minute walk to Borobudur temple complex. Great value. What more could you want?
