The Lawrence, hotel in Whalley

The Lawrence is located in Padiham, 8 km from Pendle Hill. Free WiFi is available throughout. Each room has a flat-screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

It is great self-catering property. VEry clean and neat. The showers were excellent. The good part was also that as it was annexed to the Hotel, we could rest knowing there was assistance at hand, if needed. The property is walking distance from pubs, supermarkets - Tesco and Lidl Would definetly recommend for families and long stays. Surely a Home away from home!!

The Ribchester Arms, hotel in Whalley

The Ribchester Arms in Blackburn provides adults-only accommodation with a garden, a terrace and a bar.

Lovely, inviting public house in Ribchester by the side of the river - great location for my trip to Blackburn with work. ( 20 minute drive away ) When I arrived I received a very warm welcome. On being shown to my room I was struck immediately by how plush the furnishings were. The bathroom was stylish and modern with ample towels and toiletries ( the overhead shower was divine ) The comforts provided were second to none … great selection of quality teas, coffee and hot chocolate. A teapot was also provided and a large bottle of water. The fridge in the room contained orange juice , small bottles of water and a small bottle of milk. I unpacked and headed downstairs to order food. Great pub , very friendly and accommodating staff and the food was superb Fantastic stay and would definitely recommend

The information posted about the Abbey and its construction was very interesting. It rained the entire time we were there, which was very disappointing, as the landscape is beautiful & we were unable to fully enjoy it.

Tranquil, historic abbey , much in ruins but surrounded by gardens and set alongside the River Calder. Reception rooms spacious and historic - you may well rub shoulders with senior clerics who use this location for retreats and workshops

I did not realise that i was staying in a working abbey.

I did not realise that i was staying in a working abbey. This was my fault. Although the wording was Whalley Abbey Hotel My husband said he heard singing at around 6.30 am or was he dreaming? The room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view Breakfast was in a large refectory and was very good but it had to be 8.30 am I enjoyed the peacefulness and the tranquility and the beauty of the ruined abbey. i guess it may seem a little spooky to some the location to the centre of town was excellent and the Swann pub did good food and drink

Whalley is a great base for visiting the Ribble Valley. Surrounded by lovely countryside. Has a rail link which I used several times. Good bus services through the village if not travelling by car. Good restaurants & a fish & chip shop.

Loved it! The cottage is really well presented, spotlessly clean, very central and we had an incredibly comfortable stay. The bed and quality of the bedding and towels was excellent. All really thoughtfully put together and the fresh flowers and goodies in the fridge were an unexpected but very lovely touch. It is clear that a great deal of care is taken in ensuring guests feel really welcome. We would highly recommend and would be delighted to stay again on our next trip to Whalley.

The house was stunning and furnished beautifully and well equipped with everything and more that we needed. The beds were very comfortable and had high quality bedding. The location of the house was great, right near The Eagle pub where we had tea one evening. Whalley was a lovely 20 minute walk away. It was located off the main road on a private driveway amongst trees and was very very quiet. It was just perfect, we really enjoyed our stay.

Our stay at the cottage was very comfortable - could not have been better! Well furnished to a high standard and fully equipped- we felt very much at home there. Beds and towels changed and a clean half way through our stay was a welcome touch. Local amenities all close by and great transport links make Whalley a good base for exploring the beautiful Ribble Valley area. Highly recommended.

Amazing property with wonderful hosts. The location is great, easy to reach by public transport on the edges of the thriving village of Whalley. The riverside gardens contain the ruins of the Cistercian abbey & rooms are in abbot's house. My room was simple but the lounge, great hall & refractory are impressive historic rooms. Breakfast was good & served communally in the refectory.
