Words really fail me to explain how special this property was. The attention to every single detail was exquisite. I’m a professional organizer. My business is details. I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything - even the lights on the floor that automatically come on when you walk into the bathroom - was planned perfectly when this former convent was remodeled to make a sacred space for all its guests. There was even framed sheet music in the halls to, I assume, pay homage to the beautiful music that must’ve once graced the hallways.
The staff was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was like something out of a Veranda magazine spread. The breakfast was delicious.
At every turn in the hotel and the room itself, we were met with a delightful and unexpected experience.
Who puts this much thought into a public space? The Cookie Jar does. You made our once-in-a-lifetime trip unforgettable.
We would like to introduce you to The Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate, a decadent place where colors collide, and imaginations are captured.

Fab stay only negative was that I booked this as a surprise and on arrival told if we had not booked a table we could not get food as fully booked which I understand but could have offered to order food still and take to room if needed

Alnwick Castle - and Gardens - and both very impressive and the castles interiors are amazing. It is close to the wonderful Northumberland coast which, although it can be a little cold, on the fine days which we had were brilliant, especially around Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles and up to Lindisfarne/Holy Island as well as the Farne Islands. There were major roadworks in the town centre of Alnwick when we visited but think these will complete in next few days. We did not visit Alnwick itself, just drove through.

Alnwick is a good place to visit and is an ideal base for exploring the area.
There are a number of good restaurants and cafes.
Alnwick Castle is worth a visit, but don’t bother with Alnwick Gardens as they are small and over priced.

This was our first visit to Alnwick and we've fallen in love! There were so many intriguing and characterful shops to explore and we were spoilt for choice for lovely places to eat. We would whole heartedly recommend eating a SherKhan - some of the best curry we've ever had - and also The Adam and Eve.
Dirty Bottles is a fab venue, great for a drink but would skip the very averge food next time.

The castle and gardens were closed but we have been in them before and so we were not disappointed. A walk along the river at the back of the castle is very nice and a good test of your waterproofs and footwear. Hulne park has good walks. Alnwick is a beautiful town. Berwick and Morpeth nearby, complement the area.

Alnwick is an excellent centre for visiting many locations in Northumberland, with lots of scenic coastline and castles on your doorstep. There are plenty of excellent places to eat however if you are going to stay over a weekend I would recommend booking a table in advance as they all get very busy. If you want to book the treetop restaurant book months on advance to avoid disappointment. Alnwick castle and gardens are a must if you have never visited before.
Very spacious, comfortable and peaceful, in spite of being in the centre of Alnwick. Although the building itself is very old inside it was very warm and welcoming with thoughtful touches which made it a very happy and relaxing place to stay. The view of Alnwick Castle from the bedroom was great. Excellent location for castle and gardens and for visiting other parts of Northumberland. Plenty of food shops and places to eat too. There are free car parks up behind Morrisons, but have to move car every 24 hours so had to remember.
Location was perfect just behind Barter Books and near enough to walk to Alnwick Castle and Gardens plus everything else Alnwick had to offer.
Hosts and flat were lovely and every need was catered for in the property. There was a lovely welcome pack left for us plus milk and a bottle of prosecco, which was a really nice touch.
Beds were comfortable, furnishings were tasteful and there was plenty of hot water for baths and showers; the flat was also lovely and warm. We would definitely book again
Everything. Comfortable bed. Brilliant location, great food options in walking distance. Right on the spot for Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens. Parking only a short walk. Attention to detail is evident throughout this property. Downstairs toilet as well as upstairs. Plenty of space to hang your towels. Shared Book library in the hallway actually had good books! We would cheerfully return and recommend to best friend. Fantastic place to stay in Alnwick.
The White Swan is a well established, traditional hotel offering exceptional cuisine served in a historically significant setting. Within easy walking distance of Alnwick Castle and Gardens and a short drive to the outstanding beauty of the Northumberland coastline and countryside, the White Swan is ideally located for a well deserved rest, relaxation or important celebration.
Everything! staff were helpful, room was very clean and the property was done to a high standard. Amazing looking building. Easy to park the car close by with free parking. Was closed for maintenance however, right next door to the entrance to Alnwick castle.
Will definitely be back at some point and would 100% recommend everyone else to give this hotel a shot.
thanks guys
Fantastic staff, very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Clean, good facilities, large ensuite. Great food, well presented, good sized portions, value for money.
Lovely spot to access a lot of the local visitor attractions. Alnwick Castle and Barter Books being just a couple. Plenty of free parking at the hotel. Definitely going to return, didn't want to leave.
Lovely place. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Darren is very welcoming and a great host. Had the single room which was lovely and quiet at the top of the house and perfect for my stay. Great location for using as a base to visit different places, as well as being a short walk in to Alnwick centre and the castle. Very nice breakfast.
The hosts Jane and Arthur were really friendly. the property is ideally situated for visiting various locations in Northumberland and a few minutes walk to Alnwick town centre and castle which is well worth a visit. breakfast was really good. there was attention to guests needs throughout the property.
Attended Luna Cinema event with my daughters and we just love Alnwick. We live in Newcastle and visit Alnwick and Northumberland on a regular basis. Northumberland is the most beautiful county. It has everything. The Plough was comfortable, food was lovely and staff were just welcoming and warm.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and large. There was lots of thoughtful details that don't often appear in BnBs or hotels like the makeup pads and the fridge. The breakfast selection was really good. It was warm and very easy to come and go as we please.
The room here was very clean, bed was very large and comfy and it was quiet. Check in was very easy. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Plough Hotel. It was very good and everyone there was great. Will stay here for sure if we’re ever in the area.
Welcome pack provided cereals & more which was most appreciated. Location was ideal as only short walk into town & to Alnwick castle. Local area & beaches short drive away. There was nothing to dislike
Great place. Very comfortable. Very good breakfast. Lovely host. Ideal location for the town, castle and gardens. Felt very at home and cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely go back.
Fantastic, quiet, boutique hotel, in the heart of Alnwick, close to numerous quaint seaside & harbour front villages, a great place to stay.
Free parking at the rear also provided.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was interesting - the dining room was once part of the Olympic (sister ship of the Titanic).
My room was clean and comfortable.
Very private and secluded. Had everything required for a couple of nights. Bed very comfortable. Good location for Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island. Close to A1 for easy access.
