My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Its unmatched hospitality, and inviting ambiance have left an indelible mark on my travel memories. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly exceptional homestay experience in Sri Lanka.

Funky Sol je v perfektnej lokalite, cca 150 metrov od pláže, užívala som si výhľady na oceán, zvuky prírody (pred ubytovaním je lúka, kde sa pasú kravy, pobehujú psy, vtáky), kúsok od ubytovania je surfing spot. Izba bola čistá, minimalisticky zariadená, veľká terasa, veľká kúpeňa, oceňujem, že na ubytovaní nebola cítiť pleseň, s čím býva občas na Srí Lanke problém.

Excellent location across the beach and walking distance to town. Samith, the owner is extremely friendly and helpful. Provided late checkout and arranged for transportation to the airport.

I was happy about to find a location next to the Mainbeach and also a cheap one :) The room was cleaned and you got everything you need. In Addition, we meet the houseowners and they were really kind and opened (family), so that they invited us to have a nice sitover with them !;)
