I felt like a true Japanese person here. It is so peacefull here and you stay in a house that has every Japanese characteristic you seek. I really want to go back to absorb more peaceful ness. El Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast, ubicado en una antigua residencia de comerciantes locales, está situado en Otsu, a 700 metros del templo Mii-dera. It was a cosy Ryokan in a cute town. The host was lovely, helpful and professional. It was fun to chat with her everyday and the breakfast was so delicious. The area is interesting to explore, hopefully next time I can return and pre-book the gourmet restaurants run by local chefs. It is nice to take the train to the neighbouring towns as well as it runs by the lake Biwa.

The room was as large as an apartment, with its own foyer, and areas that could be contained by beautiful screen doors. We loved the space, the views and the wonderful service, but especially the food and the ritual of having our own private dining space, which evidently goes with the ‘special’ rooms. This is a great place to unwind, leaving the rest of the world behind! Staff were beyond excellent! If the canal boat is running its a great excursion to take. Food was just superb.

Hiei Blue Roof - Vacation STAY 13887 está en Otsu, a 8 km de Templo Enryaku-ji, a 8,7 km de Templo de Eikan-do Zenrin-ji y a 9,3 km de Shugakuin Imperial Villa. We booked this property with a bit of hesitation as there were very few reviews on booking.com and we didn’t regret it a second! It is in a very peaceful residential area, quiet, restful night’s sleep is guaranteed which was very important to us. The house is warm and cosy as we had a bit of a cold weather it was important. We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.

Guesthouse Shin se encuentra en Omihachiman, a 37 km de Templo Enryaku-ji y a 38 km de Templo Sanzen-in. My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.
