Hakuna matata is like a second home, you don’t feel like in a guesthouse but rather with a second family. Billie - the host - is amazingly helpful and organises tons of cool activities for the guests (e.g. lagoon tour, jungle safari, barbecue nights). Mama prepares delicious and always different breakfasts every day at every hour to accomodate your (surfing) schedules. The place is surrounded by plants and trees which make it even more laidback. Will definitely come back. For surfers, it’s a 20m walk to main point.

The place was amazing with big spacious rooms. There was hot water and a balcony with hammock and chair. The staff was helpful with everything. They help us with taxi, scooter and surf lessons.

Great place for a long stay. 1 min from the beach, 1 min to the street with all restaurants and bars. Very reasonable price, nice rooms with ac and very friendly owner who were always really helpful and kind.

I stayed here for 1 night because the place I initially wanted to go was fully booked. I enjoyed my stay at Baywatch so much that I came back here! The people are really friendly and helpful. I was welcomed with a delicious welcome drink and they also serve a nice juice and omelette for breakfast. The room is simple but offers everything I need. The shower is really good (note that it’s cold, but I think in Arugam bay all showers are cold since that’s all you want with all the heat outside). They have a mosquito net and some rooms with AC and some with fan. Every room has a cute little terrace with seats overlooking the main garden area. Location is also perfect, close to the main street and the beach. Overall perfect stay!

Great location close to Main Street and the beach which is very helpful as getting tuk tuk out of the main area can be somewhat overwhelming. Quiet area close to amazing cafe (Shady Lane) and dinner spot (Emily’s). Theepan is very accomodating, helpful and welcoming - always responded promptly to any requests. Couldn’t recommend Hilltop House enough!

Nice garden with friendly staff and good comfortable rooms! Everything we needed! Tari, had already cleaned our room even though we arrived earlier and forgot to inform him, the room was pretty comfortable with a big bed, small table and hangers to organize our stuff, bathroom and a balcony in the entrance. There is space for parking and for surfboards besides a collective area for breakfast. The homestay is about 3 minutes walking from the beach and from the center of the city but is still protected from noise. We really liked our stay! Thank you Tari for receiving us and sorry for the early arrival!

We loved staying at the Jungle House! The room and the bathroom were very clean and beds were made almost every day. Bins were also emptied. The guesthouse has a very nice and aesthetic vibe and Laura is an amazing host! She was always happy to help us with questions and recommendations for the area. She also sells big (18 L) bottles of water for a good price (800 LKR) which was very convenient! The Jungle House is about 200m away from the main road, thus a little more quiet, but you can still walk everywhere. The room also came with a little kitchenette and kettle on the balcony and a fridge in the room. After having done extensive research on where to stay in ABay, we can confidently say that we found the best place! The cute cats living on the property are the cherry on the cake!
