The property was so close to the airport and took 5 mins from the arrivals. It’s only 2.5 miles whereas the next closest hotel it’s 12 miles away (over 40 mins driving). Mark was so responsive on WhatsApp and helpful to get everything arranged. He even has a go-to taxi driver who is inexpensive and so helpful. The place itself is more or less minimal but has everything you need if you need to be right by the airport for a flight. I initially also was nervous about the area as it seemed on Google maps to be very empty and not have anything nearby. However, a small village has started around it and I felt very safe. Also there is a police station next door. Lastly, Mark has so many doors with 2-3 locks that make you feel very secure.

In a rural area 15 minutes walk from a small fishing village/beach. The owner is amazing and picked me up at the airport around 3 am because of a delayed flight. The room was basically a self contained apartment which was very comfortable. Breakfast was self ordered, made by the owner and delivered to the room terrace at an agreed time. The owner also gave me a great local tour of the beach and village before returning to the airport at 1 pm for my onward flight.

A local breakfast is provided at Begue Pokai. what was supposed to be just a starting accommodation close to the airport, turned out to be the highlight of our 2 weeks vacation in Senegal. Angelo and his staff are great, the food is good and affordable, and Angelo is full of tips for better enjoying and understanding the village and the country. On top of that, the Toubab Dialao is a very pleasant village that allows one to chill, relax and at the same time discover the more authentic part of Senegal.
