Only 1.5 km from JR Shiojiri Train Station, Hotel Route-Inn Shiojiri features simple yet modern accommodations and a free breakfast for all guests. To no one's surprise, a Japanese hotel is super cleanly and orderly. The Route Inn gives you the option of having a light daily cleaning and a full daily cleaning. I opted for the light cleaning, since I'm not a messy person, and I was only staying for 4 days. The breakfast provided was also fantastic. Served in a buffet style, the hotel restaurant provided a variety of both Western style and Japanese style breakfast foods.

Perfect location next to Shiojiri station, staff were very helpful using translation apps during checkin, very good value, good location to see things like Narai Juku and Haraide Ruins, breakfast included

The food was amazing!!! The staff made a real effort to cook us a fantastic Japanese meal and to explain to us how to eat it. The room we stayed in was an authentic Japanese room with no beds (only futons to be rolled out on the floor). I loved having this experience and would recommend for any western travellers looking to have a unique experience.

Guests at Fukashiso can enjoy relaxing in the spacious public/private baths and request for massage services. The food here is outstanding. Breakfast is good, but the dinner service is truly impressive. We lost count of how many courses we were served and each night was something different. They even catered for one of us being a vegetarian - quite a challenge for Japanese cuisine - and did a fair job of it. But for the best experience, you'll want to be able to eat...well, everything. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The baths were nice - great for a soak after a long day exploring.
