A stay with private jacuzzi in the calm peaceful forest with excellent service and food? This is complete paradise. Also the hotel itself doesnt take many guests so hardly get to bump into any other guests- feels like I own the whole place for myself almost.

We loved our stay here. I cannot recommend this Ryokan enough - if you get the chance I promise you the price is so so worth it. The staff are so friendly, the food is AMAZING, the beds are comfortable, the onsen itself is so lovely and relaxing. This is just a wonderful cozy place to stay in Japan.

This Ryokan has a “luxury” and modern feel to it. It could easily be branded as Aman or a Rosewood Hotel since the upkeep and products / amenities used are of very high quality. The room was incredible and very tastefully designed; a mix between dark and light wood. Beds were super comfy, amazing Yukatas to wear around the hotel. Small private onsen and 2 semi private onsen with great Mountain View. Dinner and breakfast were incredible and only high quality and seasonal ingredients were used.

Our stay at Ryokan Kaminaka was an amazing experience! It is such a beautiful ryokan with a lot of history and a very homey atmosphere. The building is very old and traditional which makes it a rather unique experience. It is family owned and everyone is so welcoming and warm. Our room was spacious, the futon beds were comfortable, and we had our own bathroom. In the morning we were served a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast in the dining room with a wonderful view of the garden. The hosts were very friendly and made sure we had a great experience staying at their ryokan. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone visiting Takayama.

A fantastic japanese experience. We slept on futons on the floor. There was not a shower in the room but a shower was available downstairs. There was a beautiful Onsen, so hot 👍 15min walk from the station. They collected our luggage so we could wander for the day and free shuttle to the station when we left. The rooms were warm but the hallways were chilly ,it was Jan and there was heavy snow. The evening meal and breakfast was traditional Japanese and everything was explained. A great experience. Brilliant.
