The location although it requires a little extra money to reach (30.000 Cop per person by motorbike in Feb2023) is fabulous - you are at the top of the mountain surrounded by forest and looking out onto the sea where you can see Santa Marta etc. it’s a big change compared to gringoland downtown Minca and well worth the investment. nice and cold natural pool which allowed us to enjoy some sunbathing and cooling down at times. exceptional staff practical info: one nice walk to a waterfall from the hotel, we also did another walk of about 15km all the way down to the Marinka waterfall and to Minca which was nice. finca Victoria is also reachable by foot if you want to do a coffee tour. the restaurant was very nice and tasty - breakfast is around 20-23.000, lunch around 25-35.000 and dinner (main) around 35-40.000 if I remember well. prices were ok compared to quality.

The family/staff were wonderful; very friendly and helpful. We were given a wonderful fruit drink at check-in. The accommodation was wonderful and the environment great. The accommodation is open to the outside with screening and it makes for a wonderful sleeping and relaxing experience. The quality of the accommodation, chairs, hammocks, while rustic are very good quality and totally fit with the cabins. The bamboo construction is just wonderful. If you want the ideal get away and relaxation spot you will not find better. I also liked that while you are definitely in the jungle the grounds are lightly gardened and tended which just adds to the beauty.

The nearest airport is Simón Bolívar International Airport, 36 km from the property. Absolutely loved the experience of staying at Playa Brava - well worth the effort of the hike in! We did the walk from El Zaino to Playa Brava (took 5.5 hours incl time to swim at Cabo San Juan on the way) and then exited via Calabazo the next day - certainly recommend doing it in this direction. Both ways it is quite a steep hike but well worth it! We found that AllTrails was a really good app to see the trail map/elevation etc. which you can download and follow with GPS. Pack lightly and take plenty of water - food and drinks available at Playa Brava but at an expectedly high cost. Much more tranquil than the masses of people at San Juan. Recommend the bungalows if you can afford it - huge room with view of the beach, private hammocks underneath your bungalow and deck chairs to take to the beach, whereas the hammocks are all in one hut together. You also get access to your own private bathroom (short walk from bungalow) whereas the hammocks share 3 bathrooms between 20-30 people.

The chalet has a hot tub and full-day security. This cabana in Taganga is really amazing. We had 6 nights here and enjoyed all of them. Taganga itself can be a bit hectic, therefore staying at Bareke Azul on the hillside was just wonderful - only 5 min from centre of Taganga but far enough to get some peace, quiet and wonderful views. Also, one of the owners Ramon is just a really great and friendly host. All in all, we had an amazing stay at Bareke Azul. It’s not a luxury hotel, but considering the price, it’s perfect.

This was our favourite stay in Colombia. A beautiful setting, clean and comfortable accommodation, good breakfast and a great pizzeria next door, owned by the same family… just perfect. We stayed in the larger ‘tent’ and it was great to have the extra space for bags etc, but both options looked lovely. The owner was very helpful in arranging us mototaxis into the centre of Minca, but we also walked on other occasions and it wasn’t too far - 30 minutes. We loved going to the cascada escondida nearby, and even the river which was even closer on the same route was great for a quick dip!
