We sat for an hour after ordering our food in the restaurant and then they came and said the order had not been sent through to the kitchen. They gave us complimentary drinks while we waited.

You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

Everything the people were generous in there attitude towards visitors there was plenty to do and visit public transport was readily available prices across the board were comparable to normal residential areas unusual for a top tourist attraction
The hotel is very clean has plenty of choice has its own bar with brilliant food. Has a separate restaurant onsite. The hotel also has its own tea room, the cakes looked out of this world. We stayed for a evening meal package with breakfast the following morning. Could not fault the service the level of food was amazing. They produce their own Gin on site, I myself am not a Gin drinker but enjoyed the lemon Gin. The stay was excellent value for money would definitely stay again. The local bars was very welcoming also.
We stayed with our 2 children. Loved how big the room was and how homely it felt. Our children loved the divider curtain. We come up every few months to visit my husbands family (he us from sunderland) and normally change hotels each trip, but Lijie made us feel so welcome so we will definitely be coming back. A wonderful place.
Nice luxury hotel to stay in with a sea view and a grand old building too, would of used more facilities if stayed there longer. Good secure parking at the rear and the beach is just across the road. Easy travel to city centre or to South shields and beyond.
Excellent helpful staff.
This was the worst experience ever I went to the hotel after booking and paying for it got to the door and they refuse me at my entry they told me that I needed to pay more money on WhatsApp and if I didn't they would not let me in they left me out in the cold all night disgusting
Clean and professional, with toiletries and cuboard staples provided at the outset. Very safe and secure location with easy access to shops and city centre, enjoyed my stay immensely and highly recommend to any travelers in sunderland area.
Everything. Staff at reception so lovely and extremely helpful as were other staff. It was a fantastic experience. You cannot beat the friendliness of Sunderland people. Wonderful to see all the new development. You must give it a try
The hotel is in a great location and was tremendous value for money. The food was very good with loads of choices available. The staff were all brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Great 4 star hotel with 5 star staff.
The location is great, the views of the shipyard/sea was great. Its a great base for Sunderland/Roker Pier/Travel to Newcastle/Northumberland. The apartment was spacious and has a good layout/amenities inside.
Really helpful staff when I booked the wrong dates both at the Hotel and at booking.com. Hotel was lovely and the staff were friendly will be my default hotel when staying in Sunderland.
5 star host I have never met such a friendly person that would do absolutely anything to make your stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely rebooked when back in Sunderland.
Very nice staff, helpful and welcoming. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms and good shower. Would recommend the hotel thoroughly - perfect if you need to be in Sunderland.
the decor was way above standard, by far the most homely hotel I’ve stayed in, it’s a must for people travelling to Sunderland wanting to be located next to the beach
Came to Sunderland to see a show at the empire. Stayed over at the comfort inn. Great hotel, super staff and near good amenities. Value for money will visit again
