Casa de Lis Hotel & Tourist Info Centre, hotel in Turrialba

Located in Turrialba, 2.2 mi from CATIE, Casa de Lis Hotel & Tourist Info Centre features accommodations with a shared lounge, private parking, a garden and barbecue facilities.

A good location in downtown Turrialba. The staff were helpful and friendly and we made use of the outdoor common areas - a backyard garden and a rooftop deck. We liked the clean kitchen. The property is somewhat idiosyncratic, about half-way between a hotel and a hostel. I think they were transitioning to a hotel during our visit. We, a couple, had a dorm room with two bunk beds and a private bath across the hall; a bit unusual but the facilities were fine.

The best 2 days of my week vacation in Costa Rica. If you go with the mindset of adventure, disconnection from internet, camping style you will have a blast. This is a team of guys that do everything for you. They drive you , they cook , by the way excellent typical food, they are your rafting and adventures guides , the photographer, they eat with you and tell you stories and history of the place , the fauna , and flora etc, The experience is amazing ! Arturo , Fernando Negro and Jesus Andres were the best. Thanks for an amazing 2days

We did a tour to the cheesemaking farm Herencia, high up on the slope of the volcano. Getting there via Google maps was a bit tedious but on the way back we got better directions - via Santa Cruz and Torito. The tour is a great experience! On the way back we visited the national monument at Guayabo. We also tried to reach the Aquiares waterfall, but this is a bit difficult to find and we did not get there in time, had to turn back. The last stretch is climbing over big boulders along the riverbed.

The hotel was easy to find with a large sign so it was a welcome respite for us after our red-eye flight. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The property is in a beautiful location on the hillside above Turrialba and our room opened up to a deck overlooking the valley. In the morning, we were served a wonderful breakfast of items grown in their garden and eggs from their hens (included in the price of the room). The owner was welcoming and accommodating of our every need and I just wish that we could have stayed longer!

The hotel is really nice and clean in a very quiet place, the breakfast is simple but ok, however the rafting activity was not at all what we could have expected, they do not select the participants (you are supposed to be in shape to do 5hours of rafting) and they prefer to fill the boat with a maximum of people even when the river is very low. To compensate the inactivity of the person whom randomly decided to Maybe we were not lucky for the day but we didn’t enjoy it that much.

    - The lodge is situated in pristine rain forrest. - Charming, spacious, yet simple cottages. - Lovely, very attentive staff. Kenneth and Mauricio are excellent cooks, Mauricio is an experienced and trustworthy skipper for rafting. - Good equipment on the river! If you want to raft Pacuare, make it safe: Take a close look on competent guides and adequate equipment, for the sake of your own health! Pacuare Outdoor Center has done a good job for us - special thanks to Mau and Kenneth.

The staff tries to please but lack of any staff with good English to figure out when checking out -how they want to be paid and how much to pay, and the hotel being run down with electric outlets, fridge not working, etc was disappointing. You need to pay in cash (we didn't know that ahead of time and it was a problem). The place is very difficult to find. There's a pretty view once you get there.

The grounds are beautiful with great views. This place has so much potential, and the staff/owners are very kind and accommodating. It seemed like the hotel had recently changed hands, and they were still still trying to figure things out/renovate. If the room was cleaner, the mattress and bed frame were replaced, and there was a desk (and ideally a mini fridge), I would stay here again.

The view of the volcano was wonderful, the meals were authentic, but most importantly, the staff (aka owners) were the most hospitable people a guest could hope for. They assisted in arranging transportation and our recreational activities, neither of which disappointed. The location is very secluded, intimate, and relaxed. Exactly what we were hoping for!

There is this absolutely spectactular overlook of the valley and Turrialba volcano a five minute walk from the house - all on the owner's property which is truly worth the 1/4 mile walk uphill. The house was clean and had everything you needed including a full kitchen. There were some neat birds for us in the yard including a trogon and lots of parrots.

We arrived at dusk and it rained all night. Staying here offers an amazing opportunity to be completely off grid, in a cabin, in the jungle. Walter was a great host. Remember this is Costa Rica, don’t expect hot water! or in this case electricity in the cabin. Walter gave us lanterns and we had a mindful quite night away from everything.

The person taking care of was extremely good. With my Google translate app, got everything done. She made amazing breakfast and helped with other aspects as well. The approach to the hotel from the road is pretty steep and I had to reverse two times (because of the slope and bend). Views are great.

Spacious suite, great views, comfortable, lovely pool. Away from the busy city which suites us fine - we prefer a out of town location. Possibility of cooking own meals, but a 5 - 10 min drive to restaurants. Activities close by (Catie, waterfalls, Guayabo). Staff very helpfully.

The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The plus is that it is a hotel that is hidden away so if you want to feel in nature and have privacy it is a good place. The fire pit was a nice area and plenty of wood to keep the fire going all night.
