We have visited Benalmadena many times and always enjoy everything about it. The Marina is always a high point but there is much more to this area than just that. The promenade runs all the way from Torrequebrada punctuated by the Moorish style buildings of the Marina and on down through La Carihuela right on to Torremolinos and the stairway up to Calle San Miguel and Nogalera with all the shops and bars etc. Bonanza Square is also a must visit. Prices here for food and drink have to be some of the cheapest in all of Europe. Cross the road to Ibensa Square and take your pick of the bars. Walk along the main road above the promenade again serviced by an abundance of bars and eateries of all kinds to wards the flags roundabout and turn up right to the lovely Paloma Parque with it's lake, quaint shady cafes and cactus gardens. Walk or taxi up to Arroyo de la Miel for shopping, tapas and the railway station which runs a service between Malaga and Fuengirola. A little further up towards the mountainous backdrop is the market place and the cable car terminus. Really there is so much to do here that it is not possible to mention it all. Just go and enjoy the continuous sunshine and wonderful coastline.

We stayed in the Marina area which really suited us.
We stayed in the Marina area which really suited us. So many places to eat in the evening, Laguna, Gringos, Metro. All pretty good and didn't break the bank. Later had a drink in Dec's or Shenanigans; very close to accommodation. We found the Secret Garden which served Barry's tea (for the Irish folk) and is run by a lady from Carrigaline. Good food and staff. The beach is wonderful. Very clean and sunbeds only €7 for the whole day!! Lots of little shops and supermarkets. I'm sure it gets very busy in the high season but we were there early May, it was perfect.

The worst thing is that it is not prepared to provide the services advertised on the Booking page: there was not even toilet paper in the bathroom; the hot water in the shower has a scarce jet and takes a long time to heat up; there is no complimentary toiletries: only a bottle of cheap shower gel. Oh, and the TV is very small and old-fashioned, not to mention the air conditioning provided by an old-fashioned device.

We liked that we were at the quieter end of Benalmadena.
We liked that we were at the quieter end of Benalmadena. We walked the 5 or so miles to Fuengirola and got the train back to the nearest station which is Torremuelle. To get to Torremuelle station from our apartment you have to climb up a hill but coming back by train meant an easier walk downhill.
We enjoyed the Yucas cafe which wasn't too far away.
We found it easy to get around, especially after we found out about the 'tap in and tap out with a bank card' for train tickets. That was handy because the ticket machine at Torremuelle doesn't work.
Having previously spent time in rural Spain where we visited lots of pueblos blancos we wouldn't return to Benalmadena Pueblo or Mijas which are now a bit too touristy. Having said that - the whole of the Costa del Sol is extremely touristy. I think what I mean is that I'm glad we've seen the more unspoiled, authentic white villages than the Pueblo or Mijas.
The property is very comfortable and spacious. It has everything you need for a short and long stay in Benalmádena Malaga. It was very clean. The location is very central and it has tons of restaurants, bars, shops, bus stops, taxi stand and beaches within 15 minutes walk (if you like to walk as the hill to go up to the property location is for those in good walking shape). Renting a car will facilitate transportation and the property has parking. In overall this is an outstanding location that will fit a family of 6 very comfortably.
Hotel was close to the Marina and main strip . It was clean , modern and the rooms were of a good standard. The bar and pool area were excellent and reasonably priced, if you’re not all inclusive. Staff were super helpful with all our enquiries and the ancillary staff gave us extra pillows clean towels etc with a smile. Food at the bar was excellent and good value for money, and the bar staff fun to communicate with . Air conditioning in the rooms and throughout the hotel was excellent, and the atmosphere pleasant .
Wonderful location. Right at the beach and lovely promenade, only 300m from beautiful Puerto Marina with all its boats and restaurants. Malaga is easy to reach from hotel by cheap public transport (bus 110) - the hotel provides timetables. The food was excellent, we stayed for half board and certainly didn't regret it. Hotel also provides nice animations for adults. Spotless clean. In general, good price-quality ratio.
Pleasant staff, nice extra touches eg cava when checking in & complimentary tea/coffee & drinks in room fridge. Luggage room available as too early for room & allowed to put luggage there for late departure flight. Excellent choice of food for breakfast & again cava & evening entertainment provided in lounge. Would definitely recommend this hotel as location also excellent-opposite Benalmádena Marina.
The location is very good. You are in front of the sea and you have two beaches at walking distance to the right and left side of the Hotel. The neighborhood is calm and with like 5 minutes walk you are close to cafes and restaurants.
We were on the full board formula, The food was delicious, Fresh with a good variety.
Personnel is also professional and helpful.
Will come back in the coming years
Cleanness (rooms and shared facilities) and COVID-19 compliant; small but pleasant beach; all rooms with excellent sea view. For someone looking for a hotel near restaurants, activities, and Benalmadena's nightlife, this is probably not the best option since it is a 40-min walk to the marine; more appropriate for a relaxed stay for couples of families with small children.
Literally everything! The best accommodation I have stayed in all the years I have been to Benalmadena. I walked in and imagined myself living there. The garden view was incredible and so relaxing. I really don't want to put all this and risk never being able to find it available again to be honest but the place and the owners were amazing to deal with! Thank you!
The adult only pool area 😁
There is a water cooler machine in reception where you can refill your bottles with cold, fresh water.
The hotel is far enough out of the centre of Benalmadena to be quiet.
The restaurant offers a great choice of buffet foods..... regularly restocked. There is something for everyone. Lovely views over the sea 🙂
No carparking even though advertised on booking.com still. Hotel has road works outside. Reception staff unhelpful when asking for parking and said I needed to pay to put my car in the marina. No help with bags getting to or from the car or up to the room. Golf event took over the hotel and made a strange atmosphere.
Very attentive host, clean and cozy penthouse with a wonderful sea view in a very quiet area of benalmádena. The apartment is just close to everything you need, and the privacy of the apartment is a 10/10 with a private swimming. My family really enjoyed their stay.
Location was excellent, ocean front. Promenade in front, lined with a beautiful sandy beach on one side, the hotel side had cafes, restaurants, shops, mini markets. Beautiful views from our 2 balconies.
lovely little hotel in the heart of Benalmadena pueblo. spacious room with fridge and lovely balcony with stunning views- room 11. the staff are very helpful and welcoming and we’ll be back next year
Location was perfect in the middle of the harbour. Beautiful views watching the boats in the harbour! Apartment was clean and nice. We had a very enjoyable holiday in Benalmadena!
Sunset Beach is the perfect hotel to stay at in Benalmádena, the hotel has everything you could ask for and more and is absolutely spotless - will stay here again!
very nice hotel - beautiful pool and sea view from the room, comfy beds, tasty breakfast and dinner, outside pool, many activities for the kids in the hotel
