It's no surprise why they are such frequent award winners!
Unmatched!!
The Bridgend is well located on the island. The restaurant is good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was disappointing but the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. 3 days on Islay was a good time but could easily stay longer.

Bridgend expertly handles what must regularly be a full house for lodging, dinner, breakfast, and more. Its central location to the sites and destinations across Islay make it a great launching point from which to explore, but it was also nice to return at the end of the day to relax and recover.

The setting, the Staff and the room were very good.
The ambience lacked any atmosphere and was not inviting to us.
Something is needing done to attract local patronage.
This would be helpful in establishing rapport between locals and visitors and demonstrate how friendly Islay people are.

Bridgend is a small village with a big heart.
Bridgend is a small village with a big heart. It benefits from a small convenience store and a two pump petrol/diesel station, as well as a putting and bowling green. Walks can be taken through the nearby woods and guests at Bridgend Hotel can benefit from a day fishing license. The restaurant at Bridgend Hotel is excellent, with a range of dishes made from many locally sourced ingredients. Both the breakfast and dinner are recommended. It's possible to walk towards the sea, though we could not find a way across to the beach - which is probably just as well as it protects the wildlife and potentially nesting birds. The local police officer stopped to say hello and offered us a lift back to the hotel - which was charming. Bridgend is well placed for further exploration of Islay, and would recommend traveling with an OS map to take full advantage of the tracks and pathways (if hiking).

Unfortunately was unable to fulfill my booking at the Hotel due to illness, They were kind enough to allow me to reschedule for a later date. So we are looking forward to visit Islay in the near future.
Excellent hotel! Spotlessly clean with a lovely comfy bed. Not something I usually notice but the linen was so soft! great location for exploring Islay. Food was delicious. We had dinner at the hotel and would definitely recommend. Breakfast was fantastic too with plenty of choice. Best Scottish breakfast I've ever had. Must mention the staff, everyone was so pleasant, helpful and friendly. We particularly liked hearing the local accents. Thank you Brigend team!
Breakfast was a good range of food in a very nice dining room. Parking was sufficient and safe while the staff was top notch, from checking in to checking out. The room was a bit outdated but otherwise adequate for a nice stay on Islay. The hotel has a bar as well as a restaurant. It's centrally located so everything is within 20-30 minutes on the island, which is a huge plus for travelers with limited time (like ourselves).
This was our first Scottish Breakfast on our trip! It was Beautiful...just not a fan of the Haggis and Black Pudding! Loved everything else and our server was delightful. There were plenty of other options so I had plenty to eat. The dining room is beautiful, very period and inviting. The bar at the hotel was wonderful and we enjoyed our drinks upon arrival. Thank you for our great "First Night" in Scotland!
This IS the place to stay on Islay. Under the watchful eye of manager, Ian, nothing is left to chance. Breakfast and staff lovely, dining room beautiful. Centrally located, rooms well appointed and clean. Warm. Friendly and knowledgeable Ian is happy and available to answer all questions, make local suggestions and call other services on your behalf. Stay at Bridgend if you can! You won't be disappointed!
Breakfast buffet very good; moreover rich selection of cooked breakfast, which could even be adapted to personal preferences. Staff always very helpful and friendly. Evening meal selection and quality in restaurant very good. Position of hotel ideal: very central on island; everywhere is easy to reach.
Bridgend has earned a reputation for quality among visitors to Islay. The dining room was superb, serving dinner and breakfast rivaling high-end restaurants in the big cities on the mainland. The staff's hospitality and professionalism was much appreciated.
Lovely room, bed was extremely comfortable. This place felt like an upscale hotel. Breakfast was delicious. The hosts were extremely gracious, friendly and made us feel at home. If we come back to Islay we will definitely be staying here again.
Property was immaculate and like a boutique hotel. Absolutely perfect. Fabulous room. The host was friendly knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was amazing. I would stay again and highly recommend to anyone.
Breakfast was special, served directly by the chef.
The hotel is located in a quiet and beautiful countryside.
It is difficult to access by bus, but in return you can enjoy the typical Scottish natural beauty.
The food at the Bridgend was magnificent especially the dinners. The staff was wonderful especially Meghan, Lauren, and Kenny in that they were most accommodating and helpful. I didn’t want for anything!
The Hotel is a beautiful mansion house in the centre of the island with fantastic grounds and views over Loch Indal. The furniture is very sympathetic to the originality of the building.
The building and feel of the place is awesome. It's a small hotel with a lot of character. A good bar area and rooms (while small) are perfectly adequate and comfortable.
It’s a beautiful property and hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. Dinner was excellent although it’s a set menu. the bar is intimate and well stocked.
