Although locate in a superb area for walking a town can easily judge a town by the age profile and what facilities are open and he quality of them. The town boast 24000 in 1973 and now has an aging population of 9000. The bars are well we could not find one that had any 'local' attmosphere and the restaurants looked run down and catering for some minorities. The only supermarket is a SPAR with dodgy hygiene standards in the centre. The cathedral is rpobably the real tail tail - what happened there. I uess the give away is the number of high rise blocks of flats that are only 20% occupied by the said elderly and the number of lights on in the evening. For a town that is trying to attract tourism according the 'Office de Tourism' it needs to decide who as there is nothing in town to do that!! The trot round town 1 hour tops then roll on.

We visited during Christmas and New Years Eve and we were surprised to see that most shops and restaurants were closed. I understand that this might be the culture in the area but it was a big inconvenient for us. Besides, most shops are closed between 12:00-14:00 every day.
The people and the shopkeepers are very friendly. We don’t speek much French and the locals didn’t speak too much English but they did everything they could to help us!

I was on a self supported velo tour and it had been raining all day so was very thankful to reach the hotel which I had previously pre booked for just 1 night. It was an interesting area and would have liked to spent another day there if it had been fine weather.
I loved the professional & friendly staff! Julian was very helpful! The rooms were clean with a comfy bed! The bathroom has a make-up light & the room has a USB plug too! Ample closet space for clothes, etc! Good amenities available! We loved the food & excellent service in the restaurant! Delicious! The breakfast was fresh & varied! I will definitely return & highly recommend the Jura hotel! It was a great surprise indeed!😍
Amaizing panoramic views from bedroom of town and valley yet very peaceful apart from the waterfalls in the river below. Didn't hear any movement from other guests despite the hotel being full. Lovely breakfast room, lots of choice. 10 mins walk into centre. Shops close at midday and reopen about 2pm to 7pm. Tourist info in centre and lots of eateries.
The hotel was clean, modern and staff were friendly. The bed was very comfy, big and the room was large. Bathroom was very modern indeed! Breakfast was a great buffet. The receptionist was so lovely. Great walk into town for food too!
Everything was great! We had dinner at the hotel restaurant during our stay and it was very tasty. Lovely and kind staff. Wonderful area to go out and explore the Haut-Jura and go for walks and runs; loved it
How the apartment was decorated and how comfortable it was. The shower was excellent! Cutlery and kitchen supplies were more than expected. Perfect location in the most commercial street of Saint-Claude.
A one night stop in the very beautiful Jura mountains. A nice hotel near the centre of St Claude. Very quiet. The restaurant was closed so can’t comment on the food.
