In my opinion, Sapa is now an extremely bad place to stay for more than a day or two. Crowded with people and traffic, a very noisy city full of smog and garbage. On the other hand, it is an ideal base for short scooter trips to the surrounding areas. But if you can, look elsewhere for cheaper accommodation. We found good food only with great difficulty and very far from the center, basically unreachable without a motorbike. Today, Sapa is a classic tourist attraction with all the classic ills of the tourism industry.

The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city,...
The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city, with crowding, bustle and traffic jams on the streets. Everything is very expensive with very low value for money.
Unfortunately we encountered many children in local costumes dancing or taking photos with tourists for a few baht. Local organizations advise tourists not to give money or candy to children so as not to encourage them to drop out of school.
However, the surrounding villages are very beautiful to enjoy the nature, the wonderful view, peace and quiet, The transportation from Sapa to the villages is relatively cheap for citizens who trade with Euro or Dollar. In the surrounding villages there are many good options for accommodation and food with wonderful nature, good services and reasonable prices. There are many hiking trails and all hoteliers can arrange to have a guide at a low price. You can thus meet people from some local tribes and discuss their way of life.
Prefer the surrounding villages, anyway no attractions are inside Sapa.
Currency exchange is not very easy. ATMs only spoke Vietnamese, the bank only opened in the morning, and the currency exchange shop gave a much lower rate. For credit or debit card transactions they charged an additional 5%. Many attractions only accepted cash for the ticket.
In summary I recommend staying outside of Sapa and carrying enough cash.

Sapa is a well known tourist destination.
Sapa is a well known tourist destination. The Cable Car to Fansipan was really awesome. The Cable Cars are a bit expensive for Vietnam standards, but it's completely understandable considering the engineering used to build it. They are still much cheaper than ones I've been on other places in the world(Hong Kong, Gatlinburg USA, others).
The Glass Elevator/Bridge about 30 minutes drive from the city was an amazing experience and highly recommended.
Around the Sapa station area, we tried to sit and relax from walking around all day. Some street sellers dressed in ethnic outfits stood right next to us even after we said no several times. Even after we bought something, 2 more of them showed up and wanted us to buy more. After 10 minutes we had to leave, because we couldn't relax due to their aggressive selling.

Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension...
Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension cable cab. Buy the tickets one way to the summit, then walking down to visit all the pagodas. Bring along a warm coat, ears cover because the summit weather is unpredictable. The day we visited Fansipan, lowland temperature was 19 degree Celsius with clear sky and fully sunny, by the time we reached the summit around 11am. the temperature was dropped down to 2 degree Celsius with high wind and partial cloudy. Most Sapa villages have unpaved trail, be sure to purchase knee high waterproof boots at the Sapa main market if you plan to visit those villages during rainy season. Bring small Vietnamese currency such as 1000VND or 2000VND if you want to give out to the little kids beggar or for a chance to take a picture with them

Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media.
Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media. I would stay 4 days in total. Two for hiking, once north, once south (or taking motorbike tours), one for a traditional ethnic workshop like batik or embroidery and one to go up Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina.
Sapa is a small city that has become increasingly touristic and you will encounter several places that operate with fake google ratings.
The hotel was super clean and modern. It was about a couple of kilometers from the loud, busy city center and costs about $30000- $35000 Vietnamese dong for a taxi ride to the night market or city center, so not so bad. I had very restful nights. The owner, Ms Khanh, was super helpful in calling for my taxis and arranging my trekking tour and bus ride to Ninh Bình. She was always helpful… thank you Ms Khanh. Free breakfast on the terrace was simple but more than sufficient with delicious chicken pho.
The room was nice, with a very beautiful view !
The breakfast is very big anf you have a lot of choices (european and vietnamese)
We used the pool and the gym that are in excellent condition, the pool has a nice view and is very big so you can swim and relax.
We could pay for the fansipan ticket directly at the hotel, it was pratical and there is a free shuttle that can get you to the city center of sapa !
The staff was efficient and nice.
The hotel is nice, the breakfast as well, it is super clean and the location is quite good too. But what was absolutely outstandig was the support from Tina who was caring about the WhatsApp account of the hotel. She replied in just a few minutes, helped us with booking a bus to Sa Pa and find a safe taxi driver (who I can also recommend a lot!). She was brillant and so far the best customer care support in Vietnam!
I LOVED my stay at La Beauté Sa Pa. A beautiful and calm location, friendly host and fantastic food! I did a cooking class and hike through the homestay and she also helped me book taxi’s, buses etc as well as letting me check in late.
The vibe was great and I appreciate their lovely service. My favourite food I’ve eaten since I came to Vietnam!
I wish I could’ve stayed longer! Would definitely come back.
As you would expect from a 5* hotel it had a 5* service, was only there for 1 night as part of our honeymoon and easily the best hotel we stayed in within Vietnam , views are exceptional and the staff are really friendly and helpful. They booked us a fantastic tour with Ly around the countryside! Room was amazing and they went to extra lengths to celebrate our honeymoon
Located at the center of the city it is Good value for the money… hotel staff is very helpful and cheerful….. we got our Tracking mountain done through the hotel which came out be more economical than if we had done it separately……rooms are quite comfortable and spacious …… highly recommend to indulge in their spa services …..we enjoyed our stay at Moc homestay Sapa
We stayed in Muong Hoa View Hotel during our recent visit to Sa Pa, Vietnam. The room is located at a short distance from Sun Plaza and Notre Dame Cathedral. The room was very spacious and clean with all modern amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel offers amazing and breathtaking views of Muong Hoa Valley. The hotel staffs were friendly and courteous.
This hotel was the best in our trip in Vietnam.
The room were clean, big, comfortable and with amazing view. Extensive buffet breakfast accommodating every taste. The staff was exceptional! Kind and always ready to help! They also kept our lugguage the check out day until we got the sleeper bus back to hanoi. Thank you for everything! Highly raccomended!
I liked that it was off the main path but still close to the main entertainment of Sapa. It was quiet in the room with everything I needed for the season. The decor was nice looking and it had a home feeling. The price for a private room with toilet was better than the local hostels. I will definitely use this hotel for all my future visits to Sapa.
The Boutique Hotel is situated a few hundred meters from the main attractions of Sapa, the hotel is cleanish and good value and the staff are friendly and efficient. We booked a short hiking day-tour with a local minority guide which was one of the highlights of our stay in Sapa and the hotel also arranged for the rental of a scooter.
The staff were incredibly accommodating and so kind. In particular the front desk staff. The service we received in this hotel was outstanding. The hotel has stunning views and the rooftop pool was perfect for after long treks in the mountains and through the rice fields.
Best breakfast we had on our travels through Vietnam.
This was one of the best hotels we've stayed in Vietnam. View from our room balcony was breathtaking. The staff working here really try to help you in anyway they can, they always greet you with a smile. Room was really clean and comfortable and plenty of options for breakfast. We would love to come back here again.
Great location in the Sapa town . Staff were extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast was delicious. The spa area is really convincing with its space and staff, the negative water swimming pool and Jacuzzi are very convincing and relaxing.
Overall, we had a relaxing time staying 3 days at this hotel
This was the nicest hotel we stayed in whilst travelling Vietnam. The hotel is brand new and everything feels so clean and fresh. The rooms are really bright and spacious, with super comfortable beds. The owners where very helpful with everything. It is worth to comeback.
I had to learn the hard way that you can’t trust reviews when traveling in Vietnam - so trust me when I say this Hotel is actually really nice. Bed bed was huge, so comfortable, the bathroom was clean and they had a lot of breakfast options. I really enjoyed my stay!
Hotel was clean, comfortable, centrally located, with aromatic cinnamon tea in lobby. Although Sapa was foggy, we had 2 amazing day treks/ tours with Do (pronounced Zu), booked through her sister Dinh on Airbnb.
The hotel staff was helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel is arty and beautifully built to capture the panoramic view of Sapa. The breakfast offered a good variety of western n Vietnamese food.
Perched on a hillside overlooking picturesque valleys, En Hotel Sapa boasts scenic views and a sense of serenity that's hard to beat. It's the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life!
We arrived at Sapa at 4am, we got early check in with humble staff. The receptionist is helpful. We rent some motorcycles from the hotel and they told where is the favorite to go.
very nice location, with the best view to the mountains. the host was super nice, explained a lot and helped to book next trip. One of the best hotels so far in Vietnam!!!
