Someone needs to get the board games updated. Perhaps it's a Canadian thing, but two Q's and three Z's in one of the Scrabble sets was a surprise halfway through a game

We loved our stay at the Chateau. Renovations were in full swing while we were there, but the only impact that had on us was less guests in the hotel and some of the restaurants weren't open. A warmer than average winter and spring meant that we couldn't skate on the lake. Looking forward to seeing the new pool/spa finished.

The hotel needs to ensure that the room is clean before handing it over to its guests. The ensuing hassle is discomforting.

Location is mind boggling, and the service level is v good. The staff is courteous and helpful. Restaurants are very good.

I did not like the noise from construction which started very early in the morning. I did not like the restaurant that looked into the construction.

I liked the premises, the room, the location. Staff was very polite and competent. The location was breathtaking.

We needed a cot, and the staff brought the cot, but I ended up moving the furniture to set up the cot (which I can do, but when I'm on vacation with my family and paying a lot of money for a service, it seems strange). Also, the cot was incredibly dusty, which was a turn-off when you are paying over $1000 for a room.

Great staff. Great view, which is why we stay there. They are awesome with kids and dogs.

The bathroom was not great. Very small, which is OK given space constraints. But it was quite cold - drafty. And the water in the shower varied. Sometimes warm. Rarely hot. Sometimes downright cool. Not the standards we would have expected. Air conditioning / heating in the room was unpredictable, too. Even with a set temperature, it would sometime blow quite cold, then overwarm ...

Beautiful room with a Lake View as requested. We enjoyed the activities - Hotel History Lecture; guided hike to Fairview Lookout. Good food at the restaurants.

Felt too pretentious and too nouveau-riche tailored. From the ridiculous jewelry shops (why?) to checking room keys everywhere for even bathroom access. I realize they may get non-guests walk in quite a bit but the constant checking and signage felt disturbing. The food was a real disappointment. Only the 2nd time in my life I had to send something back to the kitchen at dinner. Be aware that once you made the booking you learn you are expected to pay a 45$ mandatory charge for “activities” like yoga and bonfires even if you don’t partake in them. Given the room rates, the additional price of this makes little difference but they wound be better off just adding something extra into the room rate and not have customers feel strong armed into paying for something they don’t use. Lake Louise is nice but somewhat overhyped and definitely overcrowded. The emerald lake 30 minutes drive away made more of an impression. The whole area between Banff and Jasper was stunning. If you have a chance at all, take the Icefields parkway to Jasper: one of the most beautiful drives and lakes, glaciers and snow peaks everywhere

Nice location but the enormous hotel complex on this tiny lake looks out of place. The staff was absolutely delightful from the reception to the Consierge to anyone encountered.

We stayed in this hotel expecting a privilege over the non-in-house guests but after we check out, we were asked to use the common toilet! So much for luxury! And the girl sraff sucks!

Not staying longer

The Fairmont Chateau is a winter wonderland. One of the most spectacular places I have ever stayed. The building is magnificent, both the exterior and interior. The view from our room and in every direction were spectacular and absolutely breath taking. The service is second to none. What more can I say. Definitely a bucket list location and it lived up to my expectations. I hope to visit again in spring when the lake thaws to the beautiful turquoise Lake Louise is famous for.

Construction started at 630am right outside our room and we were located next to a staff elevator and we were woken multiple times at night due to slamming door and loud conversations

The bathroom was too close to the bed and the doors don’t seal shut. It was very close quarters. I definitely would have liked a bit more area to move around. The view would have been lovely if not for the construction.
