FAQs about hotels in Naples

Vibrancy, Vespas, Vesuvius

Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and funicular railways. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.

At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.

While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of visitable tunnels and even a Graeco-Roman theatre which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!

Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artefacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.

As for accommodation, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city centre apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Naples is huge and it would be so difficult to see everything you want in 6 days. We have enjoyed the Monumental Complex of Santa Chiara, Naples underground, Catacombs of San Gennaro, Certosa di San Martino, Sant' Elmo Castle. Unfortunately Sansevero Chapel must be booked in advance and we could not visit it. From Naples we could go to Ercolano, Amalfi Coast, Ischia, Pompei.

Naples is dirty, full of graffiti, and did not feel overly safe. We only stayed one night, as had to catch a flight out the next morning. We were wrapping up our trip to Italy. Naples is not a destination city. I suggest spending as little time, as possible, there.

There is so much to do in and around Naples. Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Pozzuoli, Capri, Royal Palace, Archaeological Museum, Castle Sant'Elmo, Certosa San Martino, shops. A city full of history, culture and kind people.

A city full of history, culture and kind people. The Churches are beautiful, most if the buildings are amazing and Restaurants serve good food (yet not that diversified as you might expect.) Unfortunately, Naples is not that safe or clean. Trash is almost everywhere, even though trash cans exist in all parts of the city. Old clothes, cigarettes and cans are everywhere on the sidewalks and streets, except some parts of the Historical centre which are very clean. Stealing is something normal for many and unfortunately the police is not that responsive to the tourists’ complains about stolen things. I have many friend whose phones, AirPods and different devices were stolen. If you pay good attention to your personal objects, nothing bad will happen. Also, the public transport (except the Metro and Train) is barely usable. Buses come rarely in their stations and most of the time are crowded. We have waited for more than 2h for a bus near the Piazza del Plebiscito — in the very centre of Naples. So please pay attention to this aspect also in choosing to visit Napoli. Naples is worth a visit if you want to see the real beauty of the Neapolitan culture — the beautiful language, grest culture and amazing foods. For sure (with a good dose of attention), Naples is worth a visit.

We had a great trip and for us 3 days was just right.

We had a great trip and for us 3 days was just right. We visited Pompeii, hiked Vesuvius, caught a ferry for lunch in Provida, and the Metro to the football stadium. There is loads more to do if you stay longer. The city was not expensive to eat out, food of course exceptional and people really friendly. It felt like old Italy more than other places we've been. Less English spoken, more authentic, very busy during the day (insane traffic), not so much at night. We walked mainly, the Metro is also cheap and easy to use.

    Naples is kind of unique.

Naples is kind of unique. Its kind of a bit mad, kind of a bit run down, but it has this infectious, exuberant vibe. The Neapolitans themselves are just fantastic - genuinely friendly and kind. They are SO proud of their city. Naples claims to have the best coffee in Italy, and its probably true. It's also the pizza capital of Italy - the birthplace of the margarita pizza - but also has great for pasta and seafood. After dark in Naples is party time, and it seems that every night is party night! The traffic is total madness, and people on scooters appear out of nowhere, even in pedestrian areas. But other than that, we felt very safe in the city. This is a great place to stay if you want to visit Pompeii or Herculaneum. Both are just a short train ride away, which can get you there long before the crowds. The public transport, its good, cheap and safe. Herculaneum - Pompeii's less well-known cousin - was a highlight for us. We visited in late May, at around 11am, and there were no crowds, just a few parties of enthusiastic history lovers and some school groups.

It was truly an amazing experience and best decision to stay in Villetta Capodimonte. There is a big garden where you can rest in a lounge set or hammock after being all day in the city. The rooms are great and have everything you need. Salvatore received us and the communication was excellent with him for the whole trip. He gave us tips for our vacation in Italy and was always very attentive to our requests. Breakfast was also delicious! I fully recommend it and we would for sure stay there again when we go back to Naples.

This was my favorite property on my 10-days visit in Italy, too bad I only visited Naples for a day. It didn't disappoint as I already knew I was gonna like the property itself because of location, facade and the upper terrace. Everything is photographed as expected. But what's magical about it was the overall experience provided by the hosts (Nico and Anna) and their angel, Patrizia. I got the opportunity to be welcomed well, the Napoli way ❤️ I'll come back next year and will definitely stay in touch with them.

Everything! Our son just happened to stubble on this hotel for our last night in Italy after his brothers wedding on Amalfi Coast! Absolutely incredible in everyway! It was the first time in 10 days I had really lush fluffy pillows and we stayed in very nice hotels. The roof top bar was so nice and they even give you a ticket for free Presecco or Beer. The area was clean and safe unlike the hotel we stayed at when we arrived in Naples. I will tell my travel agent about your hospitality and affordable rate.

Really good hostel. Alfredo and the staff took such good care of me. I got great tips on Naples and at check-out they helped me find alternative accommodations, which was so unbelievable useful as I arrived in August, peak-holiday season in Italy. The room and hostel is very clean and in good condition, which is an interesting contrast to the surrounding area which is the busy central station of Napoli. Location is great as you are within walking distance to historic centre of the city.

Room was very clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Great shower! Mariano, owner of B&B, was above and beyond accommodating. Gave us explicit directions/guidance to us for our walking around the area locating restaurants. Provided our breakfast at our very early departure. Also, rather than dealing with taxi transportation, Mariano transported us from and to Naples airport. I would definitely recommend staying at Elegance B&B Naples Italy.

I really liked this hotel. The restaurant and outside terrace were lovely with amazing views across Naples Bay. Breakfast was excellent and I ate dinner on 2 nights and that was excellent too. The staff were helpful and very friendly especially Angelo on reception who arranged a taxi collection from Afrigola station. Having stayed in various hotels in Italy this was much better than most in this price range. I will look forward to returning.

I love the location here. It is very close to the Spanish quarter which is a good place for a meal at night time. The hotel gives you very clear instructions on how to reach them before arrival (they include pictures). It's not always easy to find your hotel in Italy so this was extremely helpful. Tomb itself was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was impressive! As was the breakfast which is served to you in your room.

Nice apartment with a clean room and kitchen that you can dine there. The balcony is cute, very Italy style. Walking distance to the Trainstation and public transportation. The area near the train station would be a little bit messy, just like everywhere in the world, I guess. But in Naples, it would be nice if you stay in somewhere you can walk to the place you want, taking a bus or car would cost you more time...

The busyness of Naples was great to be part of but to be able enjoy a noise free space in the evenings and mornings with a beautiful view of Vesuvius was the perfect end to two a week trip through Italy. Location and breakfast were excellent. We needed a comfortable place to sleep after an overnight flight US to France and then on to Italy; this hotel was basic in many ways but suited us just fine. Only one "restaurant" in proximity (actually a bar serving bar food), but the short-ish walk to Naples airport was OK to find food.

A good location, at walking distance form the main attractions in Naples. Easy to find it, close to the seaside and the subway station. A lot of good restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The owner in kind and helpful. The room is clean and big for Italy.

Perfectly located hotel, just a short 3 min walk away from the heart of Naples, with really well equipped and decorated rooms. It was the best place to finish off our honeymoon in Italy. The breakfast was topnotch and the service even better.
